Photoshop CS2 Crashing after 10.4.6

My photoshop CS2 crashes everytime I save a file back to our server. This began after upgrading to 10.4.6

Also, I am concerned that this will never be fixed. This is a quote right from Adobe's website"

“If you use Photoshop CS2 without Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Technical Support strongly recommends working in Photoshop directly on the local hard disk to prevent data loss. Save files to your hard disk first and then transfer them to the network or removable drive in the Finder or in Windows Explorer. To retrieve files, copy them in the Finder or in Windows Explorer from the network or removable drive to your hard disk. You can then open the files in Photoshop. This workflow also avoids problems that occur when network system setups (for example, Windows NT Server, Netware, or AppleTalk) or removable media device drivers are not completely compatible with the operating system or with Photoshop.”

I have tried many things on this post:

The "DisableGetInfoComment" plugin for PS did not work; even when it was put in "Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS2/Plugins/Adobe Photoshop Only/Fileformat/" I even repaired disk permissions and rebooted. Still crashes when saving to server.

I also tried some other Adobe fix that someone posted on this forum; didn't work.

I also mounted volumes using SMB. This definitely works but it depends on the network you are on (this required a little education from out IT dept on server protocol). I saved Photoshop files through that connection fine; only problem is that SMB "sees" files differently. Some characters won't show up and are instead replaced by funky icons, other files are not recognized unless there is a file extension (.ai, .psd, .tif, etc.) and still other files like fonts display "zero k". This is not feasible to use department wide.

One step forward, two steps back.

I'm a little leary about downgrading the AppleShare Client. Does this require booting the computer from target disk mode to properly install the files? What are the reprocautions when Apple releases 10.4.7?

Thanks for the comments Vipir.
Sorry, I am still not ready to downgrade the AFP yet though. This is due in part to the info I found on Adobe's Forums. Here are the two posts I found most helpful:

Do NOT use the old download-version. It’s for Photoshop 6.01. Use the one from your "Resources and extras"-CD (CS2: 9.0x211, 2005-04-06)

DisableGetInfoComment.plugin works fine with 10.4.6 but only on new files. If you open a file created prior to installing the plug-in presumably it continues to contain metadata and Photoshop crashes after SAVE or SAVE AS to the server. (Dell PowerEdge 2600/SBS2003 in our case)

These were both at "http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128@@.3bbf8247"

Earlier, when this did not work for me, I was using the "DisableGetInfoComment.plugin" that I downloaded from a link on this forum that was for Photoshop 6. After installing the newer plugin, from the CS2 "Resources and Extras" CD, it works as advertised.
