Everyone is treating it as a problem that needs solution, right?
Wrong! That`s why we don`t have a fix from Apple until now!
Doesn`t seem strange that all problems appear as once after updated!?

Apple (and maybe adobe too) do not want us to use AFP anymore!
Simple as that! AFP is old and limited.

MAC OS X works just fine BY SMB, native TCP-IP Windows Server format. Except for the files already copied by AFP!

Soo, what about my MAC files with icons that desappear in SMB volumes!!???

If you start creating and copying your files to server by SMB you can read them with no problem BY SMB.
BUT, if you created them by AFP you have to copy them all to local disks using AFP e then return them to the server by SMB.

Because of that my company is migrating all server files to SMB. Its is a lot of work but it solves all our problems once for all.

I Just think that Apple could be more honest with us.
Thank you.

Hello again Vipir -

Sven may have come thru here.

As I mentioned in previous postings I was concerned about using an older version plugin with the latest software, but obviously Adobe kept it up to date.

I've got a copy of the disk - my original has been sat on (it's cracked from the middle out!) - from my supplier !

Got to love being a big client !

Thanks Emperors Mind !

A bit hasty to assume it is some sort of conspiracy to force everyone to SMB.
Rumors abound are that Apple will fix this issue in OS X 10.4.7.
Keep a look out.

We have had all sorts of problems with files dissaparing......10.4.4->10.4.6
Suggestion from apple was to disable Spotlight on the server.

We have found that we have had problems with Photoshop 8.0 and 10.4.5 server running with 10.4.4 Clients. An error was comming up, saying that there was write access was denied. Disbaling spotlight on the client machine on the server seemed to fix this problem. Maybe someone with Photoshop 9.0.1 and 10.4.6 would be able to try disabling spotlight and seeing if that helps?

PS : I have noticed that under 10.4.6 the apple share client files are updated by both the 10.4.6 update and also the quicktime update. This casued all sorts of problems, when attempting to connect to an AFP server. So these files could well be an additional issue, for those of you with 10.4.6 installed.

My reccomendation is try editing the /etc/hostconfig file and change spotlight to NO rather than YES. Then reboot and see if the problem persitsts.

There appear to be some problems with spotlight... People are losing work.... Spread the word... Disable spotlight on your servers... A lot of people are not aware of this issue.
