enabling password on netgear router

Hi guys,

I have been trying to put a password on my Netgear wireless router (model dg834gv3). It is currently unsecured. I have tried to access the main admin page using the following address http://192.168.0.1 located on the back of the router. My Macbook Pro (Mid -2009) fails to connect to this page, the following message appears 'safari can't connect to the server'.

I have tried restoring the router to factory settings. I have also looked at the manual and so far have found no information to assist with the problem.

Does anyone know how I can secure my router?

Any help would be very appreaciated 🙂

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
