Cannot connect to iTunes store

Why does my app store on my ipad 2 say "cannot connect to iTunes store"?

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1

Hey bud... I tried to set mine far ahead and it didn't work at first. Then I went and set my Date to Nov. 19,2012, then click your top button that turns off your screen then turn it back on to make sure the date is still set to November 19, 2012. Then try to access your store through passbook. Then if it works, make sure you go back and set it back to Auto Date. I got it to work, but I'm still clueless how the App works! Ha!

That fixes the problem, but when you open the passbook app, it looks the same. Apple....releasing stuff before it is really ready to be released. Yet one more completely useless app that you cannot delete and yet one more reason that when the Microsoft Surface comes out, I am dropping every Apple product I have out the window. They are just a little too proud of their stuff.
