iOS 6 App Store Crashing when trying to view Purchased apps

After upgrading to iOS 6 my iPhone 4s can't display purchased apps. I start the App Store, touch updates and then touch purchased. I get a spining circle with Loading... for about a minute and then the App Store just exits and I'm back to the iPhone's first screen.

I've seen similar behavior with my new iPad after updating to iOS6. I haven't seen it crash but when starting App Store and then touching purchased it just stays at a spinning circle and says Loading... It never changes.

I've done the obvious stuff, power cycle and hold both buttons for a reset.

Hi, luckman212... If they were pushing people to get iPhone 5's then people on iPhone 5's (like me) wouldn't be having this problem, too.

For me, I have not yet been able to open the "Purchased" list on any of my devices (also have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4)

It's pretty clear so far that the problem (at least as I'm experiencing it) stems from having over 3000 apps that I've "purchased" on my account... (I probably shouldn't have been downloading all of those "Free App a Day" deals if I wasn't sure I wanted them)... Anyways, it's unfortunate that this wasn't corrected in the iOS 6.0.1 release...

We need to continue to let Apple know that we're having this problem (but remember that Apple does not spend resources reading through these discussion forums, they provide them as a service).

It does appear that Apple knows about the problem according to RobV8R's post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4310004?answerId=20196644022#20196644022

Fingers crossed for a fix in the next update to iOS... Meanwhile, I'm able to see a list of all of my apps in iTunes by clicking on "Apps" in my Library and then I can get them on my device by "searching" for the app and if I already bought it, it will have an Install button (rather than a buy button) for me.

Actually, let me correct that slightly... to see your purchased apps, you open iTunes and then go to the iTunes Store first and then (if you're logged in) there is a "Purchased" link on the right-hand side under your name (in the Quick Links section). Click the Apps tab, of course... It takes a long stinkin' time for it to come up -- the more apps the longer, but it did eventually.

I am having the same problem on my iPhone 4S running IOS 6.0.1 as well. When I tried to view my purchases in the App Store app on my iPhone by going to App Store --> Updates --> Purchases, I get the spinning wheel for about a minute and App Store would just close (crash) returning me to the home screen.

Interestingly, I also have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4, both also running iOS 6.0.1, but I can view purchases on those devices even with the same Apple ID. No problems on those devices!

This is really quite annoying and disappointing, lets hope the bugs gets fixed soon!

I have been having all the usualy problems like everybody else.

Until this morning, it seems to be working again!!! Not sure for how long but its back to normal for this time. I have not had the Purchased part for months. Lets hope it stays open.

It has to be a server side thing as my iphone 4s has not changed since last week when I last checked.

I am having similar problems but with the phone and maps apps instead. Anytime I try to end a call, when I press end, the screen flashes blank and then comes back on. I repeat it over and over and it never end the phone call. Also of I try to change the zoom in the maps app it flashes and crashes repeatedly. All of tho started to happen the day I downloaded iOS 6.0.1

Ok I have figured out that it not your phone ipad or whatever device.

I have my 4S and my mother has a 4S. Her purchased part of downloads works perfectly, mine doesn't.

So I logged out of my mother itunes etc. and logged into my details on her phone. The same problem occured and I couldn't access the Purchased part and the app crashes.

So I can conclude that it is an apple server or "their end" issue and nothing to do with your device or software.

This is making me cross! Nothing suggested in forums works (thanks for all your supportive comments). I have an iPhone 5 and I have tried the following (to no avail):

1. Resetting wi-fi settings

2. Changing the date through General Settings, trying to access Apple Store, then reverting to current date

3. Re-booting my phone

Gosh, you would think that Apple would get right onto this issue, given that nothing can be purchased via tha Apple Store app! The inability to download updates to apps really only annoys me.

I have just encountered this annoying bug, both with my iPad mini and iPhone5.

Here some additional info:

1) I have tried to restore and erase iPad mini, and after restart, for a few minutes I had iOS5 appstore graphic, and "purchased" section showed just fine with my main account (over 2.000 purchased apps).

2) I have tried with my secondary account, where I just bought about 70 apps, and everything works fine, both on iphone and ipad, with iOS6 graphic.

So I think that this is an account related problem mixed with new AppStore graphic display.

Only Apple can solve this, and my guess is that they could easily fix this just by fixing something on their server side. Will they ever fix it though?

IMPORTANT:

I have managed to make my Purchased section working again just by hiding many old apps from iTunes purchased items on PC. I have hidden about half of the purchased applications, going down from 2.300 apps to 1.100 apps, and now Purchased menu works fine both on my ipad mini and my iPhone 5. I hope this could fix your problems too.

Thanks for the tip. I just tried it and hidden about 400+ apps, leaving about 650 app still in the purchased list, and now it works - the "Purchased" list is working again on my iPhone.

I still think it is a bug with the App (Store) on IOS6.x though - what I'm seeing is that if you have a large number of purchased items then the list takes forever to load and will eventually crash - presumably the App Store runs out of memory while trying to load a large list.

Looks like this problem has been sussed out thanks to oldhouse (very large purchase history) so now will Apple ever fix this?

I run an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3 off my Apple ID and none of them can bring up my purchase history since upgrading to iOS 6.

Really sloppy support from Apple on this one but I'm not surprised, problems I've had in the past got just as little attention (WiFi drops & low throughput on iPad, audio loss during phone calls on iPhone 4)...and by little I mean zero.
