iOS 6 App Store Crashing when trying to view Purchased apps

After upgrading to iOS 6 my iPhone 4s can't display purchased apps. I start the App Store, touch updates and then touch purchased. I get a spining circle with Loading... for about a minute and then the App Store just exits and I'm back to the iPhone's first screen.

I've seen similar behavior with my new iPad after updating to iOS6. I haven't seen it crash but when starting App Store and then touching purchased it just stays at a spinning circle and says Loading... It never changes.

I've done the obvious stuff, power cycle and hold both buttons for a reset.

So I finally tried to hide old purchases, as I've heard this over and over ad nauseum, and of course it worked.

It looks like one of the issues is that on iOS 6, all the purchases are on the same screen, at least on the iPhone. It makes sense it wouldn't be easy to load up over 2000 apps on a single page, but it should have been tested.

That said, I've cleared my number down from 2300 to 1900 and that's been enough to allow me to view my purchased list, which is at least a stopgap!

I spoke to Engineering (by proxy of Tier 2). "Engineering is aware of the problem and are working on a resolution." I have scheduled weekly follow up calls with Tier 2 to track progress. I have little hope that this is a priority given that Apple knew of the issue as early as September and v6.0.1 was released in November without the fix.

As people have pointed out, the issue appears to be a direct result of buying too many apps. The obvious solution is to stop purchasing apps until Apple resolves the issue. Given that the people affected by this issue are heavy spenders, maybe they will get the message.

For me it's been pretty bad. I will ignore maps since i understand they need to collect data but i've had more issues with iOS6 than with any other iOS update (since iPhone 3G). Apps crashing, iPhone and iPad crashing and a constant back and forth with tech support with utterly useless suggestions.

I am not a novice user by any means so i am frustrated when tech support asks me to restart my iPhone to fix some issues that are bound to be deeper than just resetting the phone/iPad.

Right now i'm trying to find an app whose name i can't remember but there's no way to find it since i can't browse my purchase history. Considering how long this has been going on, i think Apple deserves all the heat they get for not fixing it yet.

You have tried a full restore from backup, right? That is not just restoring settings, but restoring to factory and the restore from backup. Because I haven't seen any of those problems. Just the problem with the Purchased tab. Also make sure you update your apps as it's certianly possible than some are incompatiible with iOS 6 until they are updated.

Seems like lots of people have lots of ideas and none of them work. I can tell you it probably has nothing to do with how many apps you have loaded. I just bought this IPad 3 yesterday. I've downloaded two or three apps, and today let it do the recommended update. Now I can't load the App Store. I guess I'll take it back to the store. I have some buyers remorse here.

First you MUST be logged into the iTunes Store in iTunes and I think you need to authorize this computer for your account. (Menu "Store" in iTunes -> "Authorize this computer")

In iTunes, click on "iTunes Store" on the left, then on the right, you get a "Welcome You" and just below a list of links. In the lower part you should have a "My Purchases" link, click and you'll have your purchased items.

Here, hovering an app's icon with the mouse, you should get a small "x" in the corner and clicking it should "hide" this app.
