iOS 6 App Store Crashing when trying to view Purchased apps

After upgrading to iOS 6 my iPhone 4s can't display purchased apps. I start the App Store, touch updates and then touch purchased. I get a spining circle with Loading... for about a minute and then the App Store just exits and I'm back to the iPhone's first screen.

I've seen similar behavior with my new iPad after updating to iOS6. I haven't seen it crash but when starting App Store and then touching purchased it just stays at a spinning circle and says Loading... It never changes.

I've done the obvious stuff, power cycle and hold both buttons for a reset.

I've had the same issue since iOS6. Can't access my purchase history on any of my iOS devices. Tried hard resetting them (without restore) and still no luck. I've downloaded many apps go I guess I fall in to the "too many apps" category.

Hope this gets fixed soon but given it's already been a few months not holding out much hope.

I'm with jmoo2, add me to the list of those afflicted, but for whom this known "fix" does not work. I am using an iPhone 4S running the latest iOS (currently 6.0.1). Trying to view Purchased apps results shows spinning progress wheel which never resolves and invariably crashes the AppStore app without ever showing a single purchased app. I too had less than 2000, in my case less even than jmoo2, only 1073. From within iTunes interface (on computer which was already "authorized" for my account, and I even tried re-authorizing just to be sure, though it reported "You are already authorized on this computer) I hid apps from "All" view, not just the "Not on This Computer" tab, to get down well below 1000 (986 in fact). No effect on this issue for me. Still stalls, spins, then crashes. 10 times out of 10.

Unfortunately, no. I can only assume that they took the week off for Thanksgiving.

My two cents on this:

In iOS 6, the App Store changed radically. With this change, apple likely changed the format of the file that contains the purchased apps. In addition (as someone else on this thread has already pointed out) purchased apps now appear all on one screen. To accommodate this, iOS 6 downloads the entire list of purchased apps in one file. If this download doesn't complete within a short period (around 60 seconds from my observations) then an unhandled exception occurs and the App Store crashes.

To fix this, Apple could increase the timeout, or retrieve the list of apps in chunks (think Tumblr).

I don't think the problem is tied to the number of apps. I have under 1,000 apps. Currently around 970 apps and I have this problem.

The problem is only with my account on devices running iOS 6. I still have an original iPad running OS 5 and I can see my purchased apps on the original iPad.

When I look at purchased apps on my iPad 3 and my iPhone 5 (both running OS 6) I get this bug where the purchased apps tab won't load.

This problem is extremely annoying.

I believe the issue is a combination of the number of apps, the speed of your Internet connection, and the device you're using. The iPhone 5 has LTE and a wicked fast wifi connection. The 4 is limited to 3G and the 4S to Faux-G. They both have a slower wifi connection than the 5.

My experience indicates that if you're on a fast connection and on a newer device, you'll be able to tolerate a larger number of applications.

With all do respect, I think my iPad2 on wifi broadband should be fast enough. And let's stop making excuses for a mucked up iOS upgrade, at least for the AppStore App, and specifically the Purchased function, although there are many more bugs that are far less onerous.

I have two identical 64gb wifi/cellular iPad2s, one with iOS 5 and one upgraded to iOS 6, both are authorized to the same AppStore Apple ID. For the record I have just about 2000 apps in my "purchased" register. The iOS5 device has absolutely no problem getting the Purchased list to appear quickly. The iOS 6 device, as has been described a hundred times above, just spins its little wheel until it crashes. This happens 99 times out of 100. Since the upgrade when iOS 6 was released, I have tried to access Purchased countless times, several times a day, just hoping it is on "their end" and not an iOS device problem (my end). I have only been successful only twice! Once using 3G while at work, and once yesterday morning using wifi at home.

Who cares if it is device specific, connection specific, number of purchased apps specific, or anything else for that matter. The fact is, iOS 6 is broken for what appears to me to be a substantial number of users, and has been since it was released, and Apple needs to fix it as soon as possible.

You are right I contacted apple support back in September and their working on fixing it apparently IOS devices can't handle an infinite number of apps and then it starts crashing. Apples engineers are working on a fix for this problem. The apple ID is so complex it's been over two months since they started looking for a fix.
