Am I the only one having ios 6 ipad 3 wi-fi issues

There are always outside your home wifi places which do not comply to these norms, and it is unrealistic that worldwide these places should/will adept. That is simply not the case.

So it means that, with using IOS 6, you are very uncertain that you will have a Internet connection outside your home. This is not the case with IOS 5.1.1. as I have experienced myself.

I really wonder if Apple had this in mind when introduced IOS 6???

Obviously They did not. I returned my ipad3 after apple offered to replace it. Why would I replace it for another one that will do the same thing? I travel alot for my job and asking a hotel to upgrade their router is like, well asking them to paint the room I am staying in pink!! How long until apple at least acknowledges the issue or better yet realizes they are losing money here? If the device does not function how does one buy apps or songs etc? I am really discouraged by apples reply to my inquiries as well.

This solution turned out to only be a temperary one.. the issue returned shortly later and I ended up having to swap my wifi route for another one and the issue hasn't been back since. Using a netgear gigabit route now - not sure which model.

I have just bought a new cheaper tablet from another supplier.

That too seems to have intermittent issues with my Netgear router but works OK with my other wireless routers.

This seems to be a more general problem.

There are a lot of Netgear routers around in hotels and businesses. Some of these may NEVER get a firmware upgrade.

Well, through my troubleshooting, which took an extensive amount of time, I discovered that IOS 6 apparently dropped support for TKIP encryption. We had this enabled on our access points at work for Enterprise Autehentication, in order to be backward compatible with some older wireless cards. When we removed TKIP as an option and only allowed AES encrption the problems went away. That doesn't seem to be a standards issue, but only enforcing users to utilize the better encryption.

I'm still having the problem with AES encryption, I never used TKIP.

For my iphone4, I'm just gonna roll it back to ios5 until this is resolved by Apple. Sadly for apple, I will not be pulling the trigger on a new ipad mini until this is resolved by them.

Interesting observation. However just the opposite fixed a buddy of mines network. New Netgear router (like a month old or so) folks could not connect after iOS6, the 5.1 devices were fine. I had him change from WPA2/AES to WPA2/TKIP and all got connected immediately without doing anything to their devices.

Perhaps just the toggle from one to the other is what is doing it because I have read other posts similar to yours stating changing from TKIP to AES fixes it. So its all over the place. You know most routers have option for AES,TKIP or AES/TKIP (both). Wonder if its the "both" setting that is creating issues?

Wondering now if any of your folks have updated to 6.0.1 and if so what the results were?

From what I read in other threads on this subject in this forum it is getting worse instead of better.

The location i worked on had WPA2 w/ AES.

No ios6.

Uodated firmware on the netgear router.

Still using WPA2 w/ AES.

Jimhdk had a post on the previous page which mentions a wifi standard implementation that manufacturers may incorrectly implement.

Changing the router settings WPA2/AES to/from WPA2/TKIP likely changes things simply because this resets the router OS which may correct some hung process or load problem in the router.

What I was wondering or thinking. The update notes state "encrypted WPA2 networks" but does not state whether AES or TKIP. Have seen both work when toggled from one or the other so you are probably correct here. But I would lean more toward something hung in the iDevice because this never happened before iOS6. Strange issue thats for sure.

We did have AES/TKIP (both). So I assume that was the problem, although it wasn't with IOS 5.

I have upgraded to IOS6.01 and it has made no difference.

I have tried changing the router from WPA2-PSK [AES] to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] and this made no difference. I changed back again to WPA2-PSK [AES] and this made no difference.

I have again tried rebooting the router but this makes no difference.

The problem is intermittent. Sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't.

I do have problems with another make of tablet, again intermittent, but this seems to conect OK more often than the iPad.

All devices work perfectly with my othe wireles hubs (TP-Link Powerline and Huawei MiFi).

Try just WPA2/TKIP (not the AES+TKIP) Also ,maybe WPA/TKIP. Not that is "THE" fix but if it gets you going until Apple totally works out whats going on would be worth it.
