Am I the only one having ios 6 ipad 3 wi-fi issues

after my update to ios 6 I tried to set up the ipad and it was unable to join the network....so since then I have reset the network settings, NO SOLUTION!... tried messing with my wireless router settings and switching different channels NO SOLUTION!! , and also reinstalled ios 6 to see if that was the issue....NO RESOLVE!

I have come to terms with the fact that my ipad was fine and connected easily before ios 6 with ios 5, so its not my router or wifi settings.....and my ipod touch 4g was updated to ios 6 as well and it connects absolutely fine to my wifi now.....SO SO FAR I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THE UPDATE!

No, I am not referring to the 169.x.x.x range.


I have a TP-Link MR3420 router and the DHCP range is from 192.168.1.100 up to 199.


I reserved a static IP address for all devices in the wifi network on basis of mac addresses.


The router systemlog says about every 5 minutes:


DHCP NOTICE DHCPS:Recv Request from xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (iPad mac address instead of xx)

DHCP NOTICE DHCPS: Send ACK to 192.168.1.102 (which is the IP Address i assigned)


I think it might be because the Group Key Update Period for WPA2-PSK / AES Security is set on 300 (5 minutes).


As I mentioned before the wifi icon is always available with full signal strength but sometimes the connection drops and e.g. Safari keeps loading until I get the "cannot open page" message. After some minutes the connection revives and works normally.


I also have an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1 with the same settings (except the IP of course) but currently no troubles at all.

The router i have is brand new netgear DGND4000 so it may still be settling in. I do not use security on it other than the built in fire wall and I turn off the software fire wall due to conflicts with the router firewall which causes several net drops a minute I live in a really rual area and cows do not use computers or the Internet.After getting rid of the conflicts my net runs very smoothe and is more reliable using only the router firewall which netgear says is better than the software types. Yes static IP Addressess may be the utlitmet answer but i am just making sugestions for ppl to try. if it dosent work reset back.

DLINK defaults to 3600. May want to try that and see how it goes. You may be on to something there. Strange the iPhone5 works though

If you assigned a static IP address (192.168.1.102) in the DHCP range (192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.199) then you are asking for trouble or is this just a typo?

Yes I used the DHCP reservation list. Sorry for my unclear wording.


My router is from TP-Link, not DLINK. The reason why I didn't change the Group Key Update Period to 3600 so far is that I have contacted TP-Link customer support before and they recommended 300 or 600 in combination with iOS devices.


We tried some approaches but unfortunatley the only success is that we know the iPad causes the problems.

Same with me...I am sick and tired wondering what wireless connection I will or will not be able to connect too. I was in contact with apple support....blew away and totally reset the IPad and I still have the same issue. My wife has the same problem with hers. If Apple doesn't get this right they are screwed. I have 3 of these and I won't get another if they can't fix this soon. The Apple support group is totally clueless...they really don't know what the problem is and don't know how to fix it. I am right now in a Holiday Inn hotel and I get an unable to connect with everything else being available. My iPad was great when on the road and now I consider it worthless with wireless services. You would think Apple would be interested in getting their **** together and at least let folks know what is going on.


I am totally ******...can you tell? And I used to like their product. There are too many other options on the market to continually deal with this. And by the way I could connect to everything before their ****** up upgrade.

Here is my recommendation.


If you have not updated to iOS 6.1, do it. It launched yesterday. I did not have issues with my iPad 2 using iOS 6, but my iPhone 4S had major issues with iOS 6.0.1 and 6 when connected to my Netgear DGN1000, but only when using WPA2. My Apple TV 2 had similar issues as well.


The update to iOS 6.1 has corrected the issues I experienced with my 4S using iOS 6 and 6.0.1.


Once updated go and reset your network settings and connect to the router again.


I am telling you... I attempted everything when connecting using WPA2 on my Netgear prior to iOS 6.1. Nothing worked, I gave the 4S its own IP on the router you name it I attempted it. The only setting that would work on the Netgear prior to iOS 6.1 was WPA and WEP. I even experienced issues using mixed WPA and WPA2.


If the update to 6.1 and resetting your network setting on your device does not work. Help yourself out and go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/


Provide honest feedback, your device, iOS. Your router name, model, settings such as WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc. Also provide what you have experienced, which applications are causing issues etc. The big issues I encountered with my 4S was the inability on my Netgear to connect to the Updates section of the App Store and the native iPhone Weather app. With my A TV2 I could not connect to Netflix using the Netgear WPA2 encryption.


I updated both last night and they work perfect thus far.

It is incredible that so many people have complaints regarding WiFi being dropped yet a solution/patch has not been offered by Apple. I am also experiencing various extremely frustrating WiFi connectivity issues on our iPad2 and iPad3 (both are 64GB WiFi + Cellular with Cellular not connected yet). Our WiFi connections are constantly being dropped every 3-4 minutes. Since upgrading to iOS 6.01 and most recently to iOS 6.1 we have experienced these isseus. As I see, so many have also attempted resets, router upgrades, setting changes... all to no avail.


I hope that Apple actually reads these posts and it resonates at some level that they have so many frustrated customers experiencing the same issues. Perhaps they can consider releasing a patch or provide some helpful information that remediates the WiFi and touchscreen issues they have been introduced since the iOS 6.x release.


It's a shame. When we first unboxed our iPads, we were thrilled. Now however, we are not so happy anymore and are utilizing our PCs for more and more tasks. Apple will be losing a number of customers if these issues and quality controls are not contained (my take/feeling/assumption).

Everything in my worelss network world was working fine until two days ago. All of a sudden my ipad couldnt acess the internet even thoit showed the jolly little fan indicating it was connected to the wireless router.



I just spent the past two days trying all of the above. Setting a static IP, fussing with my router settings (Netgear DG834Gv4) , resetting my network settings on my ipad, forget this network etc etc Only thing I could get to work was the static IP settings. By the way, I have two iphones, and a wireless macbook pro which were all working fine on the woreless network.


So this morning after scheduling an appointment and re-reading all the posts and Netgear site stuff ----- I UNPLUGGED MY NETGEAR ROUTER, waited a minute, plugged it back in, and voila -- all is working fine including my iPad. Geeeez! Well I now know more about wireless networking than I ever wanted to!

PS: I did upgrade to 6.1 sometime this morning. That didn't fix it, but just wanted to say which OS I am on?!?

Thank you,. I stopped being able to get wifi yesterday on both an ipad 4 and an iphone 4s, both having had ios 6.1 for a few days. Thanks to you, Trudalyn, I've just unplugged my router (a telstra one) and I now have wifi on both ipad and iphone! Tried all other advice, including reseting the network etc, none of which worked!!
