Podcast Playlists in IOS6?

I just upgraded to IOS 6. Podcasts are no longer in the Music app, but in their seperate, terrible, laggy, featureless (including no ability to create a playlist) app.

Because podcasts aren't in the Music app, I can't add podcasts to playlists, which *****. How are we supposed to make a list of podcasts while using the Nike+ stuff now?

Can I add podcasts to a playlist? Please tell me this isn't as bad as it looks.

I have the same problem. Cannot add a podcast to a Music playlist on the iPhone. And the Podcasts app does not even have a playlist fuction. That is a serious loss of functionality for podcast listeners.

Indeed. As far as I can see :-

Functionality before iOS 6:

* Make a playlist of podcasts I want to listen to on a long car journey.

* Call it "MINI1" so it shows up on my Mini's car audio system when I plug in my iPhone.

* Connect iPhone, close glove box, drive.

* Arrive several hours later having listened to many good podcasts in the order I wanted.

Funcitonality after iOS 6:

* Get entirely frustrated looking for a way of making a playlist of podcasts.

* Give up.

* Start Podcasts app, connect phone, close glove box, drive

* Twenty minutes later, podcast finishes.

* Attempt to choose next podcast by reaching into glovebox and fiddling with stupid app while travelling down motorway.

* Crash horribly and die a flaming, horrific death.

I'm fairly sure this isn't an improvement.

This is something that is definitly going to have to be fixed. For a long bike ride or a long run setting up a playlist for me is very important. I like to mix songs and lectures, sermons, or other podcasts into the mix. For me to have to listen to music, stop and go to another app is not good functionality.

As it is, the only workaround that I can find is a pain in the butt: Pick your podcast on your computer and drag it to the desk top to save as an MP3. Up convert it to above the threshold for being on the cloud, load it on the cloud as a song and then switch iphone, ipod or whatever to iTunes match and then add it to a playlist from there.

Please fix this.

While I don't mix other audio with podcasts, I do use playlists to control the order that podcasts will play. I usually sort putting news podcasts first, especially those of a local news radio station, then I put my "hobby/interest" podcasts in the order I want to hear them.

Now, I don't know if it will even play more than the episodes of a single podcast before I have to start playing something else, and it won't play in the order I want anyway.

I'm thinking I won't upgrade my iPad until this is fixed.

I got all bent out of shape for a minute

Even wrote feedback to Apple saying how disappointed I was.

Then I figured out all you have to do is change the media type of Media Kind to "Music" and, like magic, your podcasts will appear in your playlists. You can manage everything from the PC and once you have your playlists arraganged go select the files on your ipod/iphone/ipad and "Get Info" go to Options and change the Media Kind from Podcast to Muisic.

Not the end of the world.

As a runner, I'm greatly annoyed by this. For long runs, I'd routinely create a playlist with a mix of podcasts and music. Now that functionality's gone. Yeah, yeah, I can come up with hackish workarounds if I'm at my computer (like changing the "media type" for the podcasts), but something which was quick and easy, is now (at best) inconvenient and laborious and (at worst) impossible.

Apple, please allow us to add podcasts to playlists in the Music app! At least, make it an option we can turn on!
