wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Is anyone else having this problem. I updated to iOS 6 today on my iPhone 4s, everything else is working just fine, but wifi-sync isn't working, my phone doesn't appear in itunes until i plug it into my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

I agree with your post. I am tired of being what ends up to be a beta tester on every new update. Apple needs to step up to the table on this one. I think one solution might be an OTA sync option. I have been approached by a friend, who is not an Apple user, about advice on purchasing a smart phone. Although I love iTunes and the Music and App Store, I am extremely hesitant to recommend an iPhone. Syncing to a computer with iTunes is becoming more and more complicated, and each time we get an update, it takes months to fix the problems that the updates create. I think Apple would benefit from "stand alone" devices that could update to the Cloud without syncing to a local computer.

Fine post, I absolutely agree to the whole analysis.

My 3 daughters are using iPhone 4 and they kept laughing at my small phone-only device. I ended up buying the iPhone 5 for Christmas, and what a present, reading all posts from "Apple convinced" users to find a solution. But nothing... we are all left alone out there with no wifi, just the most expensive phone-alone device.

Same here, patience is a virtue we have learned, but this "problem" is out of hands, NO solution works. Just try to imagine YOUR iPhone not working at all, having to turn-off mail, maps, alerts, news-reading, everything except the phone. It's not the end of the world, invasion of Afghanistan was closer to "end-of-the-world", but it's a commercial failure. And we moan and groan in the thread in order to spare our family and friends, nothing is left but getting the frustration out. Sorry if I am not polite enough, I'd just like things to work, easy, not try to discover if there is an IT professionnal hiding somewhere in my previous lifes.

Yes turning wifi off on on works, but you'll need to repeat that action often.

We have several devices in family.

I have one iPhone 4S that is now never seen. Have to hard wire that one to sync. Don't think it'll ever be seen otherwise again.

Have one iPad 2 that always has worked without any effort at all (hope saying that wont screw it up). And note all settings are the same as the others. Why it works as designed is just a miracle all it's own.

All the rest I check every few days to verify they're still connected. And of course if I have to reboot usually have to uncheck recheck for every one (but iPad 2) for them to work.

Oh and yes, occasionally have to reboot devices for the wifi uncheck recheck to work.

Or restart iTunes. Or restart computer.

Fun times. 8-/

Yes, this worked for me also. I had done on a hard reboot on Time Capsule, restarted computer, iPhone, checked and unchecked and re-checked 'sync over wi-fi' while rebooting in between each step to reset the systems, turned off and then back on wi-fi on phone and nothing changed anything except this last suggestion-- turn off and then back on the wi-fi on the Mac itself. That did the trick, at least for now. As you can see, I'm posting this comment much further into the future than when you all were posting these comments, so apparently there are still issues with this sort of thing.. It was working fine for a long time after I fixed it before and all I did was follow the Applle support article on the subject--- do a hard reboot of the Time Capsule. However, this time that didn't solve it, but turning off and then back on the wi-fi on the Mac did,..at least for now.

Good luck everyone.

There are so many variables with wi-fi connectivity that it's hard to say what causes it generally. For all I know there may be some app that I run on my system that is affecting the subsettings at different times.
