wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Is anyone else having this problem. I updated to iOS 6 today on my iPhone 4s, everything else is working just fine, but wifi-sync isn't working, my phone doesn't appear in itunes until i plug it into my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem, other's are feeling my pain as well. I don't know what happened but my wifi syncing problems started about 1 week or so ago. Anyway, same symptons as most of you are describing plus some. My 4S would show up in itunes and then just disappear for no reason. Sometimes it would disappear in the middle of a sync.

Odd thing was, it always worked fine if I initiated the sync from the phone instead.

Anyway, the only thing that's gottem ir close to working again is doing a full reset on the network settings. So far, that has things back to normal. We'll see how that goes.

If that doesn't work, then it's time to remove and reinstall the Apple mobile device service.

Good luck everyone!

I tried all of the solutions including changing Computer Name without reliable success. I have Windows 7 64-bit. The solution that so far has worked repeatedly is the following:

1. Repair "Apple Mobile Device Support" in uninstall programs. Reboot PC and iPhone.

2. Connect iPhone to power supply only.

3. Open iTunes.

4. Note: the iPhone wifi "Sync Now" button was grayed out at this time, even with iTunes open. However, your iPhone does show up on iTunes!

5. On left side of iTunes you can see your iPhone, select Sync. After my sync, it showed that I had too much data stored on my iPhone. This is temporary and was resolved later automatically.

6. Restart iTunes and your iPhone.

7. It will take a few minutes for the iPhone to appear on your iTunes via WIFI so be patient.

8. With the iPhone plugged into power only, you should now see the wifi "Sync Now" button. I didn't have to press the iPhone sync button because it automatically started to synch with iTunes, however the "Cancel Sync" button was working.

9. After the sync, the correct amount of data stored on my iPhone showed up on iTunes. note: I performed 10 wifi syncs and they have all worked. I believe you have to do a wifi sync from iTunes to fix this problem, at least for PCs.

Good luck!

Well, I am sad to report that after working flawlessly for a couple of weeks, the "set HostName" solution stopped working for me on two occasions. The good news is that restarting iTunes is all it took to fix it again. I leave my computer and iTunes running all the time. So if you quit iTunes or shut down the computer fairly regularly, the problem will probably never come back.
