iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

i tried restoring 30 times didnt help. so i figured something is wrong with windows may be. so i restored my device through mac and turned everything on even mail, location services etc. and then turn off the battery percentage and use the iphone regularly for 2,3 days. u will feel a huge difference. i think battery percentage isnt working properly and theres something wrong with the proximity sensor even though i turn off siri raise to speak proximity sensor is still working. but iphone still manage to give me 6-8 hours usage in the hard use (lot of games, siri, 3g etc etc) good luck

I've tried a lot of the fixes people have listed with very little improvement. It's my wife's phone (4S) so I don't look at it every day as she does but I did notice that there was a "VPN" at the top I hadn't noted before. I figured it must be a new feature of the IOS 6 and pretty much ignored it until I noticed that it was constantly disconnecting and then disconnecting. Aha! The VPN on the first page of SETTINGS wouldn't let me turn it off.

As I dug deeper in the VPN settings I discovered that ONAVO had set it up. I wanted to track what was eating up the DATA plan and had read this was the best. After deleting ONAVO the battery drain improved greatly bit still not back to normal.

After rooting around in the settings for the 1000th time I noticed that there was a PROFILE set up for ONAVO. DELETE DELETE DELETE

Last night with a fresh charge at 8 PM we waited. At midnight it still read 100% so my wife played a couple of games of Solitaire and we went to bed. I checked it at 9 AM and it had 96%. (20% was normal for a while there)

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

I have noted that there has been a lot of activity with apps updating so I have a feeling that many of them are making changes to their software to be more friendly with the latest patch to IOS 6. I discussed the ONAVO VPN connection with the IT manager at work (who also has an Iphone) and he couldn't see why it would need to establish that VPN connection (especially all on it's own).

I think Onavo needs some fixing? I'll put it back on at a later date but for now it's just not happening.

I would please recommend submitting feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and following up with a call to AppleCare at 800-275-2273 with the honest feedback they need.

Many companies the reps don't always represent or relay to corporate as they should.

I have sent feedback... I got nothing in return, not even a generic email saying "we've received your feedback, yada yada yada" I have no desire to phone them, my experiences with anything to do with Apple have not been good, why waste any more of my time when nothing will be resolved? Between my visit to the Apple store and restoring both phones and trying different things over and over, I've already wasted hours of my life that I'll never get back. They need to FIX this, it shouldn't be up to the users to be spending hours trying to figure out ways to make things better, then posting here about it. It's Apple's problem, it's Apple's mess, THEY need to fix this.

It's Dec.19.2012, I got my iPhone 4S from AT&T, using it in Spain (Barcelona) right now, seems like my service carrier hops around (Orange, Vodafone, Movistar... you name it.) What's ****** up is that I can't just choose one carrier and stick with it, worst, the battery on my iPhone 4S is draining like ****. So here's what I thought was going on:

The hopping around carriers is causing my phone to sweat alkaline unnecessarily.

Then I realized, the new Facebook App has a photo stream syncing feature, it could be that, that is causing the problems. Other factors I've read is that the location services on maps is causing all the confusion on poor Alice. Now, I think it was a great idea Scott was ******* fired because plainly, there's lots of hate going around directed at iOS 6.

I have discovered that my 4S battery drain is due to the Facebook app. Signing out of the app or even deleting it all together made no difference to the problem.

Once I did a Restore however then I noticed a dramatic improvement in battery usage.

The really odd thing is I then restored a backup I made after deleting the Facebook app and that also seems fine.

I now only use Facebook via Safari but have to make sure I close the page afterwards otherwise the battery continues to drain in the background.

I posted a while ago to this thread and was subsequently contacted by Apple and helped by providing them with logs. They then ignored my emails asking whether there was any update on the 4S battery drain issue. Since then I've been having mixed experiences. Some days my battery is Ok and others it drains extremely fast. Today was particularly bad with my phone draining fast and shutting off when it listed 16% battery remaining. It is very disturbing that after all this time Apple hasn't solved the problem.
