iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

NeveenShdid......sorry the fix didn't work for you. I don't think Apple is ignoring the problem, think they're as stumped as everyone else, although it would be nice for them to, at the very least, let us know they're working on it. I hope you find a solution.

I'm very skeptical about downloading iOS 3. I just noticed my notes are not streaming in iCloud. Oy! Off to that forum now to find a fix.

Good luck everyone.

You are right my friend...Apple does not care! I've been saying this for months, it's getting worse! When the battery problem is fixed and Apple is staying on top of things, than I will purchase Apple products again.

I have spent a lot of money buying Apple products for me and my son, those days are over! Why did we have to loose Steve Jobs...:( this new 6.1.3 already has a bug! You can still bypass the lock screen!...lol omg!

OMG you guys I think I've partially solved this!!!

Basically I had a replacement iphone that was consuming 20% and hour. SICK!

It was driving me nuts!

I had restarted as new 5 times, removed EVERYTHING from apps to localize,

Trust me I had tried it all, including removing Iclouds, screen lights, siri.... EVERYTHING even my **** contacts!

I was determined to take this back to the store and then I tried one last thing:

I took my 60 year old mom's pc (who has an iphone 4s too) and basically restarted as new my iphone once again. Then when it asket if I wanted to recover a backup, I connected it to her pc and got my mother's backup from 2011!

I thought he'd get ios 5 back, but it didn't. It automatically updated to ios6, but this made my battery drain a lot less!

Now my iphone is consuming 10%!

Switching from 1% every 3-4 minutes to 1% every 8- minutes when in use.

I'm not sure about the stand-by mode yet....

So basically if you are experiencing a dramatic loss of battery and have a friend or old mother using iphone,

get their BACKUP!!

yeeeee

Hi all. ive been following this discussion for a good while. Firstly, thanks to so many who have made suggestions to resolve the problem. Here's what i did and it seems to have worked.

Initially i was only getting 2-3 hours usage on a brand new iphone (iphone 5 btw). (i know that location and signal strength impacts, so taking that into account i still was very unhappy). Anyway i finally gave in and reset the phone and set it up as new, reloading all my apps and data from scratrch as opposed to from the backup.

It seemed to slightly extend the battery over a few weeks. Latly i've discovered something which i cannot explain but it seems to be extending the life of the battery by each week. The most i ever got was alsmost 4 hours usage til i tried the following. I am a heavy user of the phone, particularly reading news apps, facebook, internet browsing, ebooks and a few games and playing a few videos.

So here's what ive discovered. Latly ive been charging the phone once its hits 20%. HOWEVER, im only charging it up to 90%, not a full charge. Now i'm getting between 5.5 and 7.5 hours on a single charge with at least a full day (24 hours) of standby.

I cannot explain how this is happening or why, but the fact that i'm not charging the phone up fully seems to be doing the trick. For what its worth folks.

well I think I've figured it all out.

The problem is the apple id.

As previously said, I backupped my mother's phone on mine and my iphone started working like normal again.

Then I started downloading apps with my apple ID and the 20% an hour drain got back.

So it definitively has to do with my apple id.

The fun part is that no matter what you do, you can exit/delete icloud accounts, but it will still keep your username in there.

So you can just restart the phone by itunes (that has to be free of previous backups) to get it as brand new and install the software over again.

Then you shall for no reason use your apple ID (and the money you've spent on it).

This way you'll get your battery back to new.

None of that bull works!! You want to fly? Drink red bull! It gives you wings! Reset, restart, set as new, drain battery, charge to full, turn this off, turn that off, I've hade 3 ipad mini and nothing worked, the guy at the Apple store updated my last ipad mini from 6.0.1 to 6.1.2! I couldn't believe it! I said, what are you doing? I'm updating it, you'll get better battery life, told him to go in back and find another one with 6.0.1.....that was the last one!! I'm starting to live with bad battery life. Just adapt. Apple sure isn't gonna fix it...look at 6.1.3 lol why! Apple! Whyyyyyyyyyy!!!! That's all..

Mar 22, 2013 10:14 AM in response to Greg Bastug1

Right Papasin73

I have also tried everything but nothing worked.

The only solution left with me was to get it repaired locally as iPhone would have charged me heftily. I am hoping to get my phone back... fingers crossed.

APPLE is acting like any antiVirus company who release a virus in the market and let people anticipate for the fix to quarantine the bug they have released..lol

May I ask what app? And why is it I have to sacrifice something? That's Apples advice also, turn this off.....turn that off....ok ? So don't use my ipad mini the way I want? I should just JB it! But never have gone that route. It's Apple and the firmware that's affecting a lot of ipad, iPhones , iPods, it's it real shame. I really hope Apple fixes this issue with ios 7? We can only cross our fingers.
