Q: iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

These are the standard battery saving tips, which do work but for the people experiencing the terrible battery drain on idle (standby) the picture isn't so specific.

Furthermore these have been covered in this 107 page thread, you will find if you stay long enough there will be a repeat cycle of question and answers. Have fun.

These are tips to save battery and have been commented in this post. These tips won't solve the problem. In fact, no tips will solve the problem.

I tried a lot of this, did many DFU new installations, changed my phone in an Apple Store and my battery is still having a crazy drain.

This is a SERIOUS BUG on iOS 6, and Apple must solve it. I only hope they can fix it in the next iOS 6.1 version, although I'm not sure they will do, because I also tried 6.1 beta and the battery also drains crazy.

I also tried all suggested fixes without success. How long do we wait for a fix? Does anyone at AAPL care? Someone asked me if we were all systimatically being pushed to buy the new iphone 5. If that is the case, is all this legal?

Actually the iPhone 5 has the same issues so no, apple isn't trying to push people to the iPhone 5 lol

Does anyone here know if Apple will do anything about this, and if yes, when?:)

#2:  Open Settings > About > Diagnostics & Usage (at the bottom)

#3:  Open Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services (at the bottom)

    Hope this helps!

    UPDATE:

After about one week of running as I did with all settings, accounts, location services, etc. in play, with THE ONLY CHANGE being turning off Safari bookmark syncing, my phone is NOT overheating and the battery life IS where I expect (remember) it.  I can go 2+ days without worrying about charging, and my phone is 1.5 years old/in-service.

Sorry this fix is not universal for all of you; but, it does convince me that Safari bookmarks was a culprit on my iPhone 4.  Now, is anybody at Apple reading this...after 107 pages of discussion posts?

    Good Luck to All.

I did not update to iOS 6. Too scared after my iPad1 was rendered useless by iOS 5.1. My battery just started draining one day - the same day iPhone 5 was released. I did update after iOS 6.01 because it was supposed to fix the battery drain of 6.0 - or 5.1.1, in my case. Still draining. I will not be turning things off while I stand on my head and scratch my nose, or any those steps involved in the "fixes". Shouldn't have to.

Funny but when I google battery drain, results show the first lines of posts that say "... and now it's fixed! Hope it works for y'all"!

    That's awesome

Settings > iCloud > Safari = OFF (assuming you sync bookmarks with your Mac / iPad etc using iCloud).

Tried all the suggestions to avoid battery drain, my battery is still ending up completely drained after sitting idle for a few hours. This is my only phone, and witih a kiddo, I think it's a serious problem that it can end up dead so fast. I'm actually considering a different phone at this point, and I've been an apple person for 20 years.

IMG_0557.PNGThis is abosolutely unnacceptable. I cannot even get through an entire of school 5 classes with battery like this! I'm beginning to lose faith in Apple. They haven't even acknowledged the problem.
