Q: iOS 6 iPhone 4s battery drain

Did an OTA update to iOS 6, and my iPhone 4s is draining quite quickly almost a percent every three minutes

Only apps running are Settings, Messages, Phone, and Mail, and Location Servces are on for Google, Maps, Nearby, Reminders, Safari, Siri, weather, and YP Mobile (sames as before the iOS 6 update) All apps are up to date, and restarted the phone twice. On local WiFi, with AT&T cellular service, four bars.

Phone would get warm at times as well.

Maybe it's an anomaly, else, lets see if this post grows...

Apple support is a broken record!! Every advice Apple gave me about the battery drain its the same thing all the time! Reset as new, drain battery, it's one of your apps, set up as new, turn off Apple applications after each full charge, I'm going nuts over this battery issue! I'm on a ipad mini....Apple told me I'm the first caller to complain about battery issues on a ipad mini. I gotta hear from them that they don't have any battery problems. One guy told me its a placebo affect! A placebo AFFECT!!! Please Apple, if your reading this? All these people here can't be imagining this battery drain issue. It's real, it's a problem, and you need to FIX IT!!! I haven't bought an app in 2 and half months! I refuse to spend anymore money on apps because I can't play a game because my battery will drain in a few hours!! Not making this up, I use my ipad 2 more, it's on ios 6.0.1. I get 15-18 hours out of it. My ipad mini was the same until December 18! When ios 6.0.2 came out. This is a shame! If I could return it? I would in a second. Because it makes me sick that I just watch my battery drain by the minute!! I really really hope you can fix this, because 6.1.2 didn't fix my battery! And I would guess thousands more are fed up!!

I don't care what you do, reset, drain battery, set up as new, install apps one by one from the App Store or iTunes. Reboot it.....it's gonna take Apple and a proper ios update!! On my 3rd ipad mini...the software is messed up!! People who say, my battery is fine. BS! Maybe we will see a fix with 7.0 don't expect another false battery fix. iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPads, iPods. All of them are messed up after 6.1.2. That update was a joke! I sound like mr. Negative, but its all true!

I just updated to IOS 6.1.2 today. I will see what will happen. Like I have said before:

    1. Do the IOS update (the one that is the latest, or if you already did or have it downloaded, then proceed to step 2)
    2. Reset All Settings: SETTINGS>GENERAL>RESET>RESET ALL SETTINGS
    3. Use it until it dies (automatically shuts off)
    4. Plug into Charge
    5. Leave it 1.5 hours or longer after it reaches 100% --> Undisturbed (preferably overnight)
    6. Give it a few days to Calibrate

This has helped me on my Ipod Touch 4th generation, running IOS 6.0.1

Everyone have to let Apple Engineers and developers come up with the solution and when they do they will release a update. They know there is a problem with the battery drainage on the latest updates for the 4s and 5. Apple is pretty good with taking care of issues. They have the 6.1.3 coming out for a lock screen bug and map issues. Trust me they will get to the battery drainage issues soon. It is not easy putting together an software just be patients every one. They know it is a inconvenience to have to charge the phones constantly.

No they won't. For many people it has been like this since 6.0 came out which from memory is about 6 months ago. We've had three or four releases since then and Apple have done nothing to solve the basic issue.

I have managed to get my 4S stable by not using location services or VoIP in the background - things that worked perfectly in iOS 5.

Although its now manageable for me, if I use reminders to set a location specific alert the battery is usually dead before I get to the location so what's the point? And remember this is using APPLE's OWN REMINDERS APP not some third party one that could be incompatible.

This is pure and simple a massive bug by Apple which they have refused to acknowledge and certainly not fixed over several releases and many months. Absolutely shockingly bad treatment of customers.

    Hello,

I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation, running IOS 6.1.2. I understand you are having problems with your Ipod/Ipad/Iphone

    • Yes, I would agree with you anytime! Maybe we should stop buying Apple Products, and see if they like it?

IOS 6.1.2 finally fixed my battery drain, phone running super hot issue.  I'm pretty sure my problem was caused by the Enterprise calendar issue.

There is a majority of Apple costumers who are not having a problem with Apple products. There are some who is not having a battery problem with there 4s or 5. I am running 6.1.2 on my iPad 2 and 4 with not a problem. So there is a majority who are happy with there Apple products.

Who knows what the issue can be. Like how long have you had the phone. What are your charging habits. Have you reach your battery cycle life. Not saying this is for all.
