    Hey guys,

I've the same battery drain issue; before (iOS 5.1) normally the battery lasted for 1.5, 2 days; now from last Wed when I did the upgrade to iOS 6, I've had to recharge my phone almost daily.

I continue to have the problem and have tried all prior suggestions. It does seem to be a WIFI issue. I have nothing else running and it is dropping rapidly as I type this response. Now dropping 4% in this short note. I am also only 5 feet from my WIFI transmitter.

I am having the same problem.  I updates my iPhone 4S to iOS 6 and the battery drain is horrible.  I shouldn't have to turn every feature of my phone off just to get the same battery life I had before.  My phone can be in my pocket doing nothing and still drain the battery way too fast.   Apple needs to send out a update fast.

Well, in my opinion the battery life with iOS 6 is now much better!

1 % left and I have 8 hrs and 17 minutes usage and 1 day 7 hrs standby time. (I browsed the web, sent some E-Mails with pictures & received some text E-Mails, made some calls, used iMessage, Siri, Facebook, iCal, Contacts and other apps like Dropbox. Also I have 2 E-Mail accounts on "Push" and iCloud activated with all its features, except iCloud Mail and iTunes Match!)

With iOS 5.1.1 I hardly reached 6 hrs usage time.

I am pretty sure that this is a Wifi problem. In my house, when my phone is connected to wifi, I am losing 20% of my battery life in 40 mins. I was just out for a walk, and the phone was connected to 3G,  and it went down by 5% in 30 mins. One other thing I noticed, from looking at diagnostics and then looking at Safari, is that I cannot delete my old reading list (under bookmarks). Is it possible that wifi is trying to download my reading list and this is using wifi constantly in the background and draining the battery. Not sure if that makes senses, but nothing else that I have read makes much sense either.....

I have to agree with those who are finding much faster battery drain than with iOS 5.1.1 on my 4S. I've tried restoring and switching off unnecessary notifications. I've also let the battery run out completely and then charged up to 100%.

Just now, my phone skipped straight from 23% to 18%!

Well I've read through the entire 23 pages and did all that was posted..at 10:05am today I had 100% battery, now 4 hours later it's at 94%.  Yesterday it would have been 50% if I was lucky in 4 hours.  Now it's time to start turning things back on as I have literally nothing on.

Did want to also point out that Settings>General>About>Advertising...make sure to tick the Limit Ad Tracking to NO!  That was a sneaky one they threw in.  I've also restricted the Safari app and now using Google Chrome.  On my DataMan app it was showing Safari was using data when I wasn't even on the phone.!

Oh and I can't let my phone run down to 0% battery..it has a mind of it's own and shuts off at 15%...it's done it twice already.  Hope Apple comes up with something to help everyone soon!

I also had significant battery drainage after updating to i0S 6. However, I did not want to do anything drastic like restore or reset all settings. The only thing I did, and it worked perfectly for me, was to turn off iCloud for Passbook. That's it. So, before getting into really drastic measures, you may want to try this simple one. Good luck!

Correction, I forgot to mention I also tuned off all passbook settings, icloud and notifications.

Well it seems that once I turned passbook icloud sync back on my battery started to function poorly again. Turned passbook icloud off again and all was well.

Now to test out facebook intergration.

IOS 5 was fantastic for me, IOS 6's battery life is crap maps are crap i do like the navi but thats one pro vs all the cons (no streetview etc etc yada yada) and things are starting to get wayy to involved with my iphone and im spending more time trying to fix it then Its worth, i have a life and id like to keep it that way, i cant delete contacts that are on my phone that are linked with facebook, my battery goes from 100 - 40% by first break at work and thats with brightness low, bluetooth off, wifi off, location services off, full restore.. i tried downgrading to IOS 5 via itunes and it had to be verified with apple which of coarse they wouldnt let me. in the first time in the 6 years i have been using apple products all the money im spending on the product is starting to frustrate me. if you dont want me to downgrade make a product worth keeping, you have no idea how much motivation this gives me to start taking software engineering and make something thats going to work for me. in the mean time ill just rip my own hair out as I walk to samsung. not happy at all.

In my case, "Exchange"-based Contacts/Mail/Calendars caused my battery-drain problems (about 15% of battery life every hour with the screen locked and no apps in the activity bar.)

Here's what worked in my case.  In Settings:Mail/Contacts/Calendar,  I toggled Mail, Contacts, and Calendars to Off for each of my Exchage-based accounts.  I made no changes to my regular, non Exchange, accounts.    Using the System Status app (which I purchased just to diagnose this power problem), I was able to quickly confirm that the CPU usage dropped from 50-70% (Avg Load from 1.5 to 2.9)  to a more reasonable ~4% (Avg Load ~0.4).  You might be able to tell just from the phone temperature.   Happily, after I turned the Contacts for the Exchanged-based Accounts back on, my phone's CPU usage is staying reasonable.

Background: while debugging this, I had the advantage of having two identical iPhone 4S'es, one at IOS 6, and the other still at IOS 5.x.  So I knew that my idle IOS6 phone was consuming power many (10-20?) times faster than my IOS5 phone. In airplane mode or with both cellular and wifi data off, both phones were draining a similar amount, so the problem had something to do with transferring data.   After doing an iTunes restore without allowing my apps to be loaded (except a few),  I was pretty sure it wasn't one of my personally loaded apps.  I was also pretty confident that it wasn't any location-based services because I had shut most of those down.  IIRC, I think I had tried toggling Push to off in Settings:Mail,Contacts,Calendar, but I don't think it had an effect, though I would have expected it to.  Maybe I did something wrong.  Anyhow, turning the Exchange-based accounts off seemed to do the trick, and after turning them back on, I seem to be up and running w/o excessive battery drain.

For those of you who have Exchange accounts, something to try.

where do i send the case of red bull for those responsible here?  Need this fixed yesterday.

Did find that i can go to the Cellular settings for mail in the general area and turn off icloud and it will keep auto turning itself back on...????

The other issue that is bothering me is that this cannot be good on the phone or battery.  WIll Apple compensate for either?  LOL  Highly doubtful.

I just updated my iPhone 4 yesterday, and have had no problem at all with draining.

I felt the phone was a little slower the first day, but after reboot its back to normal for me....wifi on, bluetooth on etc.

But it actually look like a OS problem, since so many have problems.

I am recieving my 4S in 3 days, so I hope it won't have the problem
