All photos taken with ipod should be imported to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera, most expecially before any update/restore/etc. If you failed to do this, then they are likely gone. You can try restoring from backup.

All your apps should be on your computer. If for some reason you failed to transfer them to your computer, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in sone countries:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

If youre using iTunes, click on your phone and then along the top, click on each tab and make sure apps and photos are checked to sync! This should sort your problem.

I have loads of apps missing, despite backing up before and during the update process. I also have deleted apps that have reappeared....very annoying! especially as it seems i might have to repurchase some paid apps!

Re: Your apps. Your apps are (probably) not gone. They have just been moved over to a different screen. Swipe to the right and you'll probably find them on a further page. I thought my apps were gone because the second screen to the right only had one app on it. Press and hold that app till it wiggles then carry it to the next screen where your old apps are. This will delete the blank screen that's in between Your home screen and the next screen to the right. This the most likely cause (it worked for me). Don't know about photos but I didn't lose any.

A response I put together from another post. Also going into iTunes and choosing to sync phone to iCloud then back "this computer" sometimes works.

----------

First thing.. Stop where you are. Don't try to sync, update, hard reset, iCloud... Just stop.

Check on your phone under 'SETTINGS' 'GENERAL' USAGE'. It should show some value for PHOTOSTREAM. Also, connect to iTunes and you will notice at the bottom of your phones summary page that there is a large amount of 'OTHER' data.

I used third party software called iExplorer (formerly iPhone explorer). In this program you select 'MEDIA FOLDER', then 'DCIM'. In the various apple folders (IE: 101APPLE) you should be able to preview your photos and copy them to your desktop.

From there sync them back to your device through iTunes or whatever method you use.

There is a simpler solution I'm sure, which may involve using iExplorer to delete some .plist files then restart the phone and let it rebuild. I'm going to try it myself AFTER I've finished copying all the photos to my MAC

Hope this helps.
