I have the D-Link DIR-615 that others do. I've tried *all* the config changes posted here and elsewhere on the web. I've done the nuke and pave thing on both router and iPhone. While Safari connects, Netflix and other apps on either the iPad or iPhone still refuse to connect via wifi. Connects just fine over cell connection in both cases. My GF took her iPad to work and it all started working there. I walked over to the neighbor's and voila, the iPhone would connect to Netflix and all the other apps started working as well. (He made me a martini to sooth my frustration. 😉 )
Solution: I hit Amazon for a new Cisco E900 router which arrives 9/26. It galls me I have to do this but the frustration and time wasted makes it a cheap fix.
Did you update the firmware to 3.12? Solved all my problems as soon as I did that. I was at 3.11 when nothing was working.
Did that this morning when I did the nuke and pave. Nada. In fact I went to 3.13NA. What Rev is your router. Mine is C.
Mine is C too. Weird. Seems to have worked for me. Do agree though this is more of an iOS 6 problem than necessarily a router problem.
Well, yes and no I suppose. 🙂 Having been a QA person in a past life, I can tell you it's practically impossible to test for *all* situations. My theory is they may've broken something looking for more speed thereby introducing some new incompatiblility to the chipset and it's instructions. I don't know. I'm surprised you got yours to work with what is apparently the same equipement and firmware upgrade that I did. But as a network buddy of mine pointed out, to try and make me feel less bitter I suppose, consumer grade routers are almost disposable after a couple years. Heck they're cheaper than a decent bottle of scotch anymore. Glad you're up and running. Cheers... CV
Just in case there is not a solution higher in the thread, doing a "Firmware Restore" on my iPad 3 solved the problem for me. This was recommended by the Apple Genius Bar. I had already tried resetting the iPad, etc. Also, my local wifi/router is an AirPort, and I had the same incorrect password symptom on other networks I had previously been able to connect to, prior to IOS 6 update.
Simple steps for iPad 3 Firmware Restor:
Connect iPad to iTunes
Backup iPad in iTunes
Reset iPad by pressing both the Home & the Power buttons for about 7 seconds
As soon as the iPad disappears from iTunes, release the Power button but keep the Home button pressed
After a few seconds, iTunes will prompt regarding Recovery Mode, etc.
Follow the prompts to restore, etc.
Same issue. After update to iO6, a Login page is generated when attempting to connect to corporate network and then it disconnects from the wifi.
My wifi only iPad is essentially bricked.
Dave, i had the exact problem. I added apple.com to the bypass settings on the IronPort and now i can get wifi in my corporate network. My users will be thrilled!
Edit: Spoke too soon, still jacked up! If i put my phone IP address in the bypass, it does work, but this is not realistic.
Fixed the problem after calling IronPort tech support. Add CaptiveNetworkSupport user agent on an identity in the Ironport WSA. The way Apple handles captive portal is a little different i guess?
Same issue here. Can't connect to wifi after update iOs6.

My new iPad 3 wifi + cellular with ios6...does not remember wifi network passwords, I have to keep inserting the password all the time. Performed all troubleshooting without success. Tested the ipad 3 over multiple wifi network modem models again without success.. Note...My iPad 2 & iPhone 4S with the iOS 6 update do not have this problem at all. I suggest to all and to Apple there is a serious problem with the iPad 3 wifi hardware. Will be contacting apple about this and asking for a refund or iPad 2..
Tried all these suggestions - nothing worked. Discovered that iPad doesn't work if router IP address is anything other than 192.168.1.x or 192.168.5.x (guest access).
Switched my router's IP address from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.1.1 and it works fine. Alternatively connect via guest access with no encryption.
It's a shame so many people having so much difficulties with such a basic feature of the iPad.
Good luck!
The theory of the atheros chipset makes sense. I have no problem at home with linksys. However visiting family they have a Dlink 615 c, firmware 3.11. I get dropped or disconnect when Ipad is in sleep mode. Neither my android phone, my son's phone and his Asus tablet have a problem. There is also a PC in the house and it works fine.Tried to update firmware on the router but d-links FTP is down.
Bit of mess with IOS 6, between Google Maps, hit and miss WiFi and Imatch music.
One tip, I go into airplane mode and then back out and Ipad 3 re-establishes a connection.
Also note Ipad is connecting a G and all other devices are N wifi.
I have the same problem here. At least if we could downgrade, but even that is not possible...
I haven't looked through this whole thread, so I might be posting stuff that has already been discussed but here it goes anyway just in case it helps some future googler.
I am a network engineer on staff with a small private university. I experienced problems with my wireless network around the time iOS 6 hit and traced the problem back to iOS devices. The problem came from devices violating part of the TKIP protocol called the Message Integrity Check (MIC). The issue came to my attention when our wireless LAN controller started shutting down parts of the network as a security countermeasure.
I am not sure what the end-users of the offending devices were experiencing but, due to the security countermeasure of my WLAN controller, the entire wireless network was bouncing on and offline.
Our solution was to stop using WPA and start using WPA2 with AES encryption.
