Upgraded to ios 6 just then and lost all sound?! No idea why...
iPhone 4, iOS 6
I have this exact issue after upgrading. My phone thinks it is connected to a dock and I don't own a dock. Headphones work, but no volume control when headphones aren't plugged in. Would love to know if someone has a fix for this...
Hi everyone... I had this issue but seemed to fix it!!Try this...
Go in to the 'Clock' App...
Edit a previously set alarm (may also work if you set a new one)...
Sound...
Select a song from the 'Songs' section...
Save...
As soon as I did this, my volume buttons began to work, and the volume bar was visible in the Music App.
Good luck!
This is crazy...as soon is I posted my problem my phone started playing audio and now works fine. Took 3 hours or so from the time I upgraded to 6, but on its own just realized it wasn't connected to a dock and started working. Wish I could tell you what happened, but the only only thing I can gather from this is to wait...? Lol sorry
I am so confused. AS soon as I upgraded to ios 6, my phone speaker stopped working. I can use speakerphone and can use a headphone to listen but i cant hear from the earphone. It also works on handsfree. Does anyone have a solution?
Okay I have this same problem but as soon as I posted my problem, my sound turned back on. But earlier when I updated it took like 2 and a half hours to even play sound. And when I try to turn my ringer up their are no buttons going up. It's weird. Also if I go and try to change my notification alerts it just vibrates. Hope my sound doesn't go out again seems like every time I restart my phone it goes off.
I got mine working by plugging in headphones,
Starting a song in the iPod app
Pausing it,
And then unplugging headphones and clicking play
All sound has returned to the phone, when I was updating it did stick for ages on the page with the apple logo and progress bar, I restarted my phone and then it resumed, anyone with the sound issue have this when updating?
ok the clock trick worked for sounds but my music still wasnt playing so I used a q-tip to clean the connector on the bottom and now it works! Other pages said to used 91% alcohol (rubbing alcohol) or something while the phone is shut off because in my case my phone was thinking it was connected to a dock. So far so good...
I found in my case that it was a generic charger causing the iPad to think it was connected to a dock. Once I removed the charger my sound came back. It works fine with the official charger. Hope this helps
This is happening with my iPad that's updated to iOS 6. The iPad thinks it's connected to a Dock. I cannot plug it into a dock b/c the only ones I have are for iPhones.
P.S. this is not happening with my iPhone or my wife's iPhone
So I have tried everything in this forum, hard reset, resetting, earphones, dock, moving the side button off/on still my iphone doesn't have sound, soo my last resort is going to my husband laptop and restore to original? cause I had just got this iphone 4s a week ago and haven't back it up or anything to icloud or itunes or nothing I know I will lose everything but all does apps that I payed how do I get them back? and if hooking the phone to the computer doesn't resolve it 😟 I'm soo frustraded I don't know what else to do.
I updated my New iPad first thing this morning and all went well till around 3pm PDT when WiFi started going completely bonkers. By the time I got home around 5pm, WiFi was working fine again but now I have a even weirder issue - sound works as long as my iPad is on but when it turns itself off, NO notification alerts of any kind show up. However, if it is turned on, the alerts work fine.....very strange.
Ok after restoring my iphone back to 5.1.1 the sounds came back only when I left my iphone on a docking station for about 5 hours and letting my playlist run until it went to sleep then woke it up and unlock it but the clicking the locking and receiving text sound are very low and I have the volumen to max what can I do? NO WAY IN **** IM GOING TO IOS6 until they do a bug fix
I have tried all of the above on my iPhone 4S, with no resolve. I can adjust audio when the headphones are plugged in. Upon removing the headphones, i see the ringer icon without the bars below that indicate levels. Did not have this issue when upgrading an iPhone 4.
When starting Passbook, I also receive the message "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" on both the iPhone 4 and 4S. Access to the store is available through the App Store icon on my home screen.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I discovered my problem and it was my own doing. There are two options for setting "Do Not Disturb" and I had both set instead of using one or the other. When I set them correctly, sounds starting working just fine. My bad.....
I have the same issue, no sound for anything and no volume bar. The ringer works an my alarm goes off when it's suppose to, but my apps have no sound, and if I just want to change the ringer volume with the volume buttons, it works when I use them, I just can't see how loud or quiet I set it to unless I go into sound settings. There is no sound on like you tube videos and there is no volume bar to even try an adjust it. I tried resetting by holding down the power button and home button at same time, that didn't fix the problem, I also tried using the whole clock/alarm deal, and that didn't work. Some people said after they posted their problem here, it fixed. Hopefully it works for me, otherwise, if anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.
