Apple maps very disappointing

Having just downloaded iOS 6 I am hugely disappointed with apple maps. In the UK many town names are wrong, with some missing; roads are all the same colour; satellite image resolution is not as good as it was previously. Sure, the 3D map in London is good but it only covers an area a few square miles, so is currently more of a gimmick.

So questions i have...

1) Are others experiencing the same?

2) Will it get better and if so how quickly?

3) Will there be a google maps app released soon?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

To add to the current rant...

I hate that all my favourite apps such as find friends now has no choice but to use the new apple maps, it is simply AWFUL! I really hope Apple sort it out soon and allow us all to not only download the google maps from the App Store but to link our apps with it too! Although unlikely we can still hope! As a way of compensating for the hideous apple maps I have docked the google maps web version to my homepage but this is significantly slower, no street view and I cannot link to my other apps.

Poor decision Apple! You have made some very unhappy customers by choosing to get rid of one of the most popular apps on the iPhone, I'm sure many would now consider switching to android if this isn't fixed in some way soon!

Although a couple of hours have passed I am, if anything, even more angry at what Apple have forced upon me.

I'm actually I'm shock at how poor 'Apple Maps' is. It's absolutely awful.

Where I live in Scotland Apple Maps is not only bereft of detail. It also has street names wrong and even streets that do not exist. The directions are often wrong. Motorways cannot be distinguished with ordinary roads and there are no junction numbers. I cannot find any of the local business that I support, all in all it's a total cluster ****.

As someone who previously relied on Google maps I can only assume that this is some sort of cruel joke from Apple, carefully designed to torture us.

They have taken a really expensive piece if hardware that I have to work hard afford and in one software update seriously weakened it, especially if like me you are a frequent user of google maps in ios5.

It's such a backward step it's hard to imagine it would have happened when Steve Jobs was alive.

It's horrendous, I'm so angry about it as it really affect my day to day business.

'Apple Maps' is probably the worst piece of software Apple have ever produced. It's absolutely stinking.

If Apple had a brain on this, they would have made as their criterion for the new Apple Maps before adapting it: You have to do everything perfectly that Google Maps already does before you "improve upon it". I assume if they didn't accept this, then they did what so many other successful companies do when they're #1 when ego rules ahead of common sense, sacrifice an excellent product app (Google Maps) for a lesser one in the name of proprietary. Microsoft and Google have made the same ("we're # 1") mistakes and now Apple makes it. They will ultimately lose #1, but the saving grace is they can still correct it if they act fast and give customers a choice of Google Maps also until they absolutely perfect Apple Maps and let the market decide-not them)!

Apple didn't force anything on you. You could have stayed with 5.1.1 but you chose to upgrade. I don't remember them holding a gun to my head telling me to upgrade or else.

Dear Apple.

I insist that Google Maps is returned to the phone. This one of the main apps that are used by users and you have given us RUBBISH and unusable.

In Russia there are no buildings and house numbers on the maps!!!! What kind of rubbish is this. The phone has lost huge functionality due to this for me. NOW I will need to purchase a navigator again. I am very unhappy about this.

I would like to repeat. I insist that Apple returns Google maps. I also have a right as a customer, and do not like being abused.

I from Argentina and although I'm as disappointed as all you, I have another failure to inform. My city has a different name, but that is not all, all the cities in the same district have the same name, THE NAME OF THE DISTRICT!!!!! This happens with all the other districts. This means if I travel, when I set up the route back, I won't beagle to make it cuz my town has the name of the district and I might end up some where else.

I'm crossing my fingers for apple to change this ASAP. Meanwhile, can someone recommend me a good map app?

It doesn't matter if they forced you or not. They didn't inform us the app wasn't ready, I didn't know about this problem till I upgrade my iOS.

They shouldn't release it without it been properly tested.

Speak for yourself. I never used google maps because it sucked. The display would always go off after my lock time was reached, when using it to navigate it would always point north unless using the compass which was never accurate either. I used TomTom and it worked great. Also used Waze which is a free app that worked great too. Google maps just pure sucked. Apple maps is 1000% better than google maps was.

One other thing. You are not addressing apple here. We are uses just like you and this is a support forum not a personal forum for you to rant. Everyone ranting here needs to read the TOS because everyone is breaking it by ranting here.

It is ready. It works perfect for me. I think it is way better than google maps.
