Apple maps very disappointing

There is no doubt that there are some serious gaps/deficiencies in the new maps app. Give Apple some time to improve it. In the meantime, you can advise Apple about these gaps/deficiencies and help improve the maps app, rather than complain about it. Yes, it does. The pin's landing point is also a place called Stratford Upon Avon station, Station Road, Stratford Upon Avon. Not so far from Stratford on Avon then. 😉

This is just a bad update, no other way to say it. I hate to state the obvious, but Apple is getting sloppy. People can disagree with me and say that I don't know what I am talking about, but its my perception based on what I have seen recently. Here are some comments I made on another forum a couple of hours ago...

Is it just me or does the Apple "experience" of the last few weeks or months feel sloppy to anyone else?

- rMBP experiencing IR issues at a seemingly high rate and Apple conspicuously silent on the issue.

- iPhone preorders from last week getting pushed back. My neighbor ordered about the same time as me and just got pushed to 10/5.

- iMessage down then up then down again (hasn't worked for me in 2 hours).

- iOS 6 release which appears to be buggy

-- System sounds don't appear to be reliable. I only get audible notifications about every 3rd or 4th text.

-- Auto-Brightness seems to have stopped working.

-- Rampant WiFi issues.

-- Maps navigation isn't all that reliable the couple of times I tried it. Distances are way off.

-- Passbook hoops to jump through to get it set up. Some say you can link to it straight from Starbucks or United Airlines etc, but that doesn't seem to work for everyone.

-- iTunes or App store connectivity problems.

-- App Store choppiness and "Androidy" feel to it.

I know all these issues are not universal, but they are enough to make me ask, "What the heck is going on?".

Wow best help ever. Did not notice the light colored part that lets us report issues with the map. Now we can become part of the solution instead. Thank you.

What is going on? Well they got too big, felt they can't lose and started pushing out crap that is not finished. They just become too big and think people will accept it. First the 4 - 4s and now this.

They think we will just keep dumping money for the lastest and greatest but now we learn that they can no longer be trusted and in the future people will not be so quick to jump on to the newest product. It will hurt them, not at the moment but it will.....

I know that this is ultimately NOT a solution, but at this point, Google has had about 5 years or so of a head start on Apple with building their maps technology and solutions.

We all have to be patient....Yes, this is NOT the Apple exerperience we have all come to expect from Apple.

I read that Google would not supply Apple with updates to the Maps app (like turn by turn driving, etc), so ultimately, Apple did what any company would do. They went with the alternatives.

No they did not. Look at Waze who already supplies Apple with map information. Waze app for mapping is a lot better. You see other drivers on the road and current traffic conditions. You can report accidents, hazards and gas prices. Your movements are used to keep the map up to date. If a road does not exist you travel on it and pave it. Someone else confirms it and it become part of the map.

Waze is what Apple Maps should be like. They already have a partnership, why not take it a step further? Just take a few min to look at Waze in the app store and you will never use another map again.

The same thing happened last year when Apple released iOS 5. This is normal with any major software updates. There will be bugs. Last year, Apple released updates fairly quickly to address the major issues with the update to iOS. They will this time too.

We all need to be patient....

1) Yes, i have to agree with you in some of the things, but keep in mind that this is the first time ever they release something like this, and it is made for beeing used as a TomTom navigator.

Likewise. Not as good as google maps by a long shot.

There's a free app available in the App Store called iFindView. It's Google maps, and a better version than the one that was present in IOS5.

Apple what have you done. I hope politics is not the reason you have significantly downgraded the user experience for almost all iOS users. Please rework Maps urgently.

Don't forget that these are user to user help forums and Apple does not monitor for feedback. If you are unhappy with the new Maps App, submit feedback directly to Apple to make sure your concerns are heard.

yeah ... extremely disapointing ... looks ugly, the whole imagery is in low-res ... makes errors ... expecting Google to provide a third party app for iOS as soon as possible ... expecting it to be approved very quickly too 😉
