Apple maps very disappointing

Thanks to Apple Maps not working correctly, I missed an event that my wife was in. Instead of taking me to a major theme park in Nashville (major metro city), it took me to the opposite side of the late to some woods. I missed the even by a couple of minutes, and now my wife is very upset with me. I was in a time crunch and needed to get there as quickly as possible, which is why I used a GPS in the first place. Thanks Apple for putting my relationship on the rocks for the next few days.

Since this was an important event, you did not bother to check out where you were going before hand?

What if you went to a job interview and showed up late because "of AppleMaps"?

You think the interviewer would care?

In other words, it would simply be your fault, not Apple Maps.

I was coming from an appointment that I couldn't change, and had enough time to get there if I would have used Google maps. I knew the exit off of the interstate and knew generally where it was. I figured maps would get me to my destination like any other (Waze, Google Maps, mapquest, Tom Tom, Garmin) would. However, maps told me to turn right instead of left and I lost the little bit of padding I had in my schedule. I didn't use the other apps because I was driving, and siri is the best for that situation. So, Chris, don't pass judgement on my life without knowing the facts. The issue is, if maps would have actually taken me to my destination instead of the middle of nowhere, then this would not be an issue.

Chris, I wouldn't waste your time here. I know it's getting ridiculous, people now blaming their relationship problems on Apple and all, but all the ranting individuals aren't worth the time.

Listen, yes I shouldn't blame relationship problems on maps. However, the simple fact is that apple is the biggest company in the world. It has WAY more capital than Waze, Tom Tom, Garmin, and mapquest, yet these companies have successfully made navigation software for years. So, there is no reason why Apple cannot make a navigation app that actually works properly. And it's us "ranters" who actually buy or don't buy the products that Apple puts out, and the reason apple fixes the issues when they arise. The bottom line is that maps not working properly actually does affect the lives of its users...just ask the Prime Minster of Australia who deemed Maps "life threatening" or the people that had to be rescued from a wildlife reserve.

You want us to believe that you knew where this "major theme park" near Nashville was, right down the the interstate exit, yet you used Siri anyway. This took you to the "opposite side of the late to some woods" instead. Did you mean "lake"? What large, impassible lake in Nashville might that be?

Your clumsy attempts at personal insults are just pathetic. If you wish to make a meaninful contribution to this 148 page rant thread, why not post what this place actually is? You are claiming that Apple Maps is so bad it doesn't even show Opryland? This isn't the open internet where anyone will believe anything. This is Apple Support Communities, where people know the truth about these things. The last big debate we had in this thread was concerning the relative location of a specific parking lot next to a neighborhood swimming pool in a tiny suburb of Melbourne Australia. And you want us to believe that Apple Maps doesn't know where Opryland is?

i think apple maps uses tomtom data...

It was Nashville Shores (a water park and campground on Percy Priest Lake), and maps told me to make a right when I should have made a left off of Mill Rd...with no place to safely turn around after, I had to continue for a bit before I could. etresoft, you have no idea what you're talking about. You were not in the car with me and you don't know the situation. As you can read by my last reply, I resent bringing any relationship issues into this. However, being 1 minute late made me miss the event (a polar bear swim for special olympics which took all of 45seconds). Here is a picture to explain the situation. The "push pin" is where it told me the entrance was. Now, when doing turn by turn, I couldn't see the "bigger picture" and that when it said to make a right, I should have made a left. However, my friend used google maps, and he got there just fine. As you can also see, there is a large lake there. Also, Opryland doesn't exist anymore, so that makes this park the only theme park in Nashville. One that I KNOW is recognized by Waze and google maps. And, there aren't a ton of signs marking it from the interstate (my wife told me that in a text), so I decided to use Maps. I hope this new information makes it worthy of a 148 page thread.

I just did your address on google maps and it sticks the pin in the exact same spot. I'm sorry you missed your wife's event, but it was not a specific problem with apple maps, but rather the address you entered, I'm guessing.

So, I asked Siri to give me driving directions to Nashville Shores. There were several options, so I chose the first one that said Bell Road knowing that was the main street. If you do a search on google maps, when you click on Nashville Shores, it gives you directions to the enterance. So, I guess its maybe an issue with whatever SIRI uses to get its addresses? I didn't type in that address. Also, Maps told me to turn left and I was at my destination...however, there were nothing but woods on the left, as you can see. Thanks, gstar65, though for testing that out...it narrows the issue down a bit.

Also, when I looked up the webpage to find the address, it was 4001 Bell Road. So, I don't know where Siri actually got the other address.

That's odd. I just asked Siri for directions to Nashville Shores and the address is listed as 4001 Bell Rd....

When I did it, and the text did read Nashville shores, it gave me about 4 or 5 options...2 of which were on Bell Road. However, not knowing the exact address and driving, I guess I picked the wrong one.

I hate to raise the blasphemous concept in this troll-centric thread (making me an infidel), but user error appears to be the issue, not Apple Maps...

I just did the same exact thing I did earlier today. I asked "give me directions to Nashville shores. It said that there are 4 places matching "Nashville Shores." And this is what I got. I chose the one that says NASHVILLE SHORES in all caps, and the one below it also has the same address. I haven't done the most recent update (I just recieved the notification about 10 mins ago), so maybe that's it? I'm on IOS 6.1
