Apple maps very disappointing

I figured out a temporary workaround for those of us dependent on public transit...

from your iPhone web browser, go to the url, maps.google.com . It'll default to google's iphone version of mobile maps. It has the capability of locating you and routing your somewhere via mass transit. It is not nearly as functional as the old iOS 5 pre-installed version, but at least you won't be stranded at the bus stop trying to figure out your next move.

I sincerely hope that Apple allows google to provide a fully functional version through the app store. I'd even pay for it.

MapQuest app is free and has voice guided turn by turn navigation in case anyone needs this feature. Ive never used the native ios maps app so I could care less if the new map app is crap, but I do feel for you guys who did use it.

Can't see how Apple can refuse to host an App from Google on the grounds of 'conflicting with core functionality'

- especially if it includes StreetView. Not seen any Apple camera cars cruising the locality.

Not that my opinion matters to Apple... but I thought I would add to the already numerous voices communicating their disapproval with Apple Maps. The arrogance of Apple to get rid of google maps for their own mapping system is maddening. Apple you better let Google maps back on IOS6 or... hello Samsung.

Well, I've been looking at reviews for Microsoft windows 8 phones - Nokia & HTC, also Microsofts Surface Tablet, and hopefully they will have build quality closer to Apple.

I'm not quite locked in to Apples ecosystem - I have a windows PC, because I couldn't justify the price of an Apple replacement.

Microsoft have recovers after Vista, so I may prefer to belong to an ecosystem that doesn't lock you up in solitary to be fed Apple gruel.

Amid the myriad glaring defincies of the new Maps the most problematic for me is its inability to provide me with directions to my home address regardless of the starting point. I live in Washington, D.C. and, despite repeated attempts, soft resets and address confirmation, Maps only tells me that directions to this destination are unavailable. Meanwhile, Idirections can be provided to neighboring addresses.

As an iPhone loyalist since 2008, I for the first time am an unsatisfied constumer. Apple Maps is a tremendous disappointment for an otherwise superb product. It is unacceptable.

Launching a half baked product like Maps is a serious mistake Apple must correct in the near term or it risks significant losses.

Maps and directions are far too critical a function for consumers to accept - not merely an imperfect - but a failed feature.

In the US the traffic only shows extreme slow spots, very useless compared to color coded streets/highways to show the condition Fast-Slow-Stopped. Nice job apple, way to fix something that didn't need fixing. Now you HAVE to fix it!

Huh? The 3D maps function doesn't work in DC like it does in NYC, LA, and Miami and DC got its first Apple store 2 years ago. Unless you're comparing it to Dawson City, Yukon; DC is hardly priority AppleLand.

Bye. Don't need you here then anyways if all you are going to do is cry about maps when there are tons of apps that can do what you need.

I have the same problems in Canada , maps are outdate many locations shown already developed for years; when change to 3D viewing the map look like you are riding roller coaster, Pin drops are distance away from actual location, hope Apple go back to Google map.

3D.....You only get that in London Town. Both they, and the rest of us havn't got 2D that works. Data is 10 years out of date and the limited amount of useful info is splattered anywhere, but where it should be.
