iOS 6 Music Not Really There

I have updated successfully to iOS 6 on an iPhone 4.

After restoring the backed up iPhone I happily found my music now on the phone. However, not all the music is actually on the phone. It skips between songs that it cannot find.

I am a member of iTunes match but the ability to download the 'missing' music is not present on any of the skipped tracks.

This is incredibly annoying. Has anybody else experienced the same and if so, have you found a solution?

@Dr.Dave I completely agree with you.... A trip to apple store is a pain in the butt, as is having to redo all my apps n stuff... However, it fixed everything, but I also DO have the little cloud icon on all my music now...

I too will probably not be on the bleeding edge of technology next time and get stuck with a sub standard iOS.

I'm like you, always loved them, but with these problems I was wondering if I shouldn't have switched to a Samsung!

I tried many solutions recommended here but none worked.

Here's what solved it:

Go into the Music app on iPhone

In the bottom navigation bar, choose 'More' and then select 'Shared'

In my phone, the iphone was selected as the library. I simply selected my previous library which was listed and this restored my playlists.

Home sharing is on and I was at home with my itunes library open on my macbook when I did this.

Good luck!

have a simple work around - unfortunately it does NOT involve iTunes any more!

i sync everything except my music using itunes for my music i simply use Media Monkey which i have used to tag /refine/manage my music anyway!
i am tired of waiting for apple to come up with a fix! Seems like no one within apple cares about music at all since the press mosty talk about Maps and other goof ups they are more interested in fixing that!
My Suggestion - MediaMonkey - point to your music folder and simply Right click and choose Send to iPhone!
simple as that and you have all music tags and et all neatly transferring over!
Every release i give itunes a shot - so far since iOS6 it simply hasnt worked!!!
Sad to say it was fine before!

Hello Everyone

On my iPhone (iOS 6.0.2) i have activated iTunes Match. I see all songs, artist, Albums ect, but no playlists.

I tried ryanlyle’s solution it works, but only when you are in home WIFI network and by selecting a library other than “this iPhone” you lose “Genius” functionality as well.

Can someone confirm? Or am I missing something?

Same ting with my iPad too. Playlists are missing.

It seems like there are no playlists information get synchronized to Match.

Thanks!

In the meantime i found this:

Hello my friends from all over the world:

I found the solution as well. After 11.0.1 update in itunes, I connected all my devices using USB cables at lease once and the it synced all my playlists. What all of you devices need is a simple reboot and logging in and out of the itunes match. It seems to solve the issue. Moreover it looked like the server bug out of anything. It will come back for you guys too.

I am having the same problem. I have never ever us iMatch and so that solution would not be able to work for me. I have tried every other solution on here. In fact iTunes will not even allow me to add music to the playlist. I have checked the manage music myself option still nothing. When i try to move music to the iPhone in the file folders it says that the device has been disconnected or is no longer responding. Which, of course, i did not disconnect it at all. What's the deal?? I am able to move new music that i've recently purchased from my phone to my computer but am still unable to move any music to my phone.
