I've been having the same problem, since upgrading to iOS6 on my 16gb 4S iMessage has only worked with Mobile Data on and best if 3G on aswell, last night I managed to have it working on wifi but the next morning it was broken again. I've changed the data/time etc, restarted phone, made sure iMessage is actually on, unsure what else I can do now other than wait for an update? hopefully apple fixes this soon😐

The same kinda thing happened to me! I tried everything except resetting my whole iPad, I was about to give up and just reset it but before I plugged it into the computer imessage and facetime randomly started working again! I was so happy! I turned my iPad off real quick because I was trying to download emoji, then when I turned it back on they weren't working and haven't ever since! The next time they start working I'm NOT turning my iPad off until they fix this update!

i'v noticed that whenever i turn the wifi off and then back on, imessage will stop working. that would also make sense on why whenever i would reset the device, imessage would stop working then too.

so if anyone has their imessage working, do not turn off the wifi or reset the device until apple fixes this problem.

also, has anyone who's been having imessage problems also been having problems with apple's email app not pushing or fetching messages. I have noticed that whenever imessage doesn't work, the email app is not pushing messages for any of my gmail or yahoo accounts. However, when imessage is working, the email app is pushing messages. it seems these apps are related somehow.

Yep, when I turned off my wifi too it did the same thing. You have a really good suggestion, I'm not going to be turning my iPad off or bring it anywhere else because I don't want to loose my wifi then have imessage have problems again. my imessage is still currently not working so I hope it does soon. I have also been having email problems too

Go the this link

http://www.redmondpie.com/download-5.1.1-ios-for-iphone-4s-4-3gs-ipad-ipod-touch -direct-official-links/

http://www.redmondpie.com/download-5.1.1-ios-for-iphone-4s-4-3gs-ipad-ipod-touch -direct-official-links/download the 5.1.1 farmware of your apple device

[MAKE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR FILES FIRST]

Then connect your apple device to the computer where you downloard the firmware from the link.

When iTunes pops up go to your device description, right where is says "CHECK FOR UPDATE" press the "SHIFT" key in your keyboard and click on the "CHECK FOR UPDATE" button. It should pop up your files. Go find where you saved your IOS 5.1.1 farmware click on it and it would ask something like "WOULD YOU LIKE TO UPDATE IOS 5.1.1" Click update and your computer will do rest of the trick.

P.S the download may take a while since its a huge farmware but it mostly depends on your internet speed.

Lost power at my house for a minute and so my router shut off. Right on cue, when I reconnected the iPad to the wifi iMessage has stopped working again and the email app doesn't push/fetch messages(I can still manually fetch messages). Everything else on my iPad is working fine.

I think I'm going to wait a while and see if both start working on their own without me having to reset the device or resigning into anything

After upgrading to ios 6, iMessage stopped working.
