Problems with Maps in ios 6.

Just downloaded the new ios 6 update and can't get the 3D maps to work. When i click the 3D button and swipe up on the map, it will not make things 3D like it's supposed to and you can't zoom in! Is anyone else having problems with this?!

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

the 3D maps feature is hightly dependent on location. You need to be looking at a big city to use it (try Houston, TX). It's also limited to the 4s and 5. As for Siri on iPad 2, it's not supported. Only on iPad 3.

I was wondering about iPhone 4. I guess the 3D doesn't work on that. Just the 4S and 5. I have iOS 6 for my iPad 2 and the 3D works fine. Not every place has the 3D rendering. I live in NYC and it doesn't work here, or at least it didn't last I checked.

I know San Fransisco and Las Vegas have their maps rendered out to 3D. I'm sure there's more to come.

Getting my 5 tomorrow so I'm excited to see maps on the new phone. While some of the images looks kinda crappy in3D its still an awesome feature to play with.

Upgraded to Ios6 and ya, the maps kinda need need some time to develop.

I was 3Ding Las Vegas and trying to zoom in on our hotel room and had some trouble

tilting the 3D view. I found that holding down your index finger pad on the screen (iPhone4S) and swiping up and down with your middle finger pad slowly and smoothly, one can change the view angle pretty much. Takes some time to get it but it works.

Could not see into room though!

I have an iPhone 5. I never had problems with the map app, not that I used it much. But where I did use it was while walking around in downtown San Francisco. I loved the 3D views I could get. I could rotate around buildings and look at all sides. It was great. I had been there 3 times and was using the 3D maps to great advantage. Then today I went and 3D wasn't working. Sure I could tilt the surface, but I was tilting a 2D view. I could not rotate around a building and see all sides. It seems like they have taken something away that (at least in San Francisco) was working well. Note that the 3D that did work only worked in major cities. It didn't work in my home town of Benicia (30 miles from San Francisco). Anyway, I think in their attempt to "fix" the problems with maps, they've removed the 3D feature. I hope that's just temporary and that they'll get it back at some point.

I live in the Ukraine and new maps are just a big disaster for our country! I'm very disappointed! Google Maps were much better. Now I even couldn't see any buildings on the streets! Like I'm living in the field with grass and nothing else! My friend's street (where he lives) does not exist at all! No Yelp supporting in my country! No signed objects! I see only names of streets and some tram stops. It's almost impossible to find something using this awful maps! Flyover of corse is not supported.

And when look flyover in supported places, buildings seemed just like it was a nuclear war in this place. Not very nice.

But I'll be glad if I could see just buildings.

Bing Maps offers a very good maps service with Bird's Eye, a feature similar to Flyover. It's arguably better than Google Maps.

You can use Google Maps by creating a shortcut to the Home Screen with help from the article below.

MapQuest also has a very nice app available.

Nokia Maps is another great service that you can add to your Home Screen via a web shortcut.

We should remember that Google maps was less than perfect. There are several in my contact list that Google places way out of the way. The first time I went to one of their homes, Google had me on the wrong side of town.

Tonight, I took a little time and checked a number of my contacts. Apple Maps correctly located a couple that Google had not. But, Apple also mislocated a few that Google correctly placed.

This is clearly a work in process (as is Google).

The MAPS app on my iPad2 is very good looking in the maps view until you start to look more closely. My town of Stourbridge has been totally removed and replaced with Dudley which is in fact several miles away. this could have affect on local businesses as well as upsetting locals. Even the Dudley Zoo appeears to be 6 miles from where it should be in a different town.

The Satelite view is extremely slow to populate and is very dark when it does. the quality of the picture is very low.

The traffic view is difficult to use and too fine to see clearly

For the last 2 years I have really used the MAPS app a lot but in this state for me it is not safe to use as I do not feel I can confirm its accuracy. BRING BACK THE PREV VERSION!

Is this the way APPLE are going to be in future? feels like cutting costs at the loss of quality.
