Problems with Maps in ios 6.

Just downloaded the new ios 6 update and can't get the 3D maps to work. When i click the 3D button and swipe up on the map, it will not make things 3D like it's supposed to and you can't zoom in! Is anyone else having problems with this?!

the 3D maps feature is hightly dependent on location. You need to be looking at a big city to use it (try Houston, TX). It's also limited to the 4s and 5. As for Siri on iPad 2, it's not supported. Only on iPad 3.

Stroinky, I don't think for a second that the bugs are the result of "cutting costs at the loss of quality." These are much more likely the result of introducing a new product.

I have found a number of flaws in Google Maps as well and they have been in this business for several years. On several ocassions, I have driven miles out of the way to an incorrect location following my Google map.

Until Apple works out the bugs -- which I am confident they will -- there are work arounds.

G3gator, I really do appreciate how hard it can be to bring on a ny new product. However I also understand you don't get replace it with a lower quality product unless it can still be fit for purpose. This new map app is not fit for purpose as there is no way i could trust any map which has such blatent and damaging mistakes. Having used maps for many years I know map maker have a difficult job to continually improve them. I have never seen one sent out for consumption in this condition.

Also the point of having the app is not to have to resort to alternative solutions.

Well rant over. I have dropped a few notes indicating specific issues in the hope the system will be updated soon.

I have a regular iPhone 4. When I first upgraded, I could view maps in 3D, both the flying urban view, and the regular 3D map view in my area. I had the little 3D button next to the "locate me" button in the bottom left corner. This worked for several days. Suddenly, mid-last week, the 3D option disappeared. Two fingers no longer tilt the map, nor can I do the flyover view in cities. There has been no update, no change in the program. The function just vanished. Am I the only one to have this happen?

Anyone having problems swiping/scrolling ahead in driving directions? I cannot get iOS6 Maps to let me 'swipe' through the directions unless I turn off location services in Maps. Then it works just fine, but doesn't help me much for getting directions from 'Current Location'. Any help in resolving this is much appreciated.

Went to Genius Bar, they had no idea it was an issue or how to resolve. Just did a DFU reset of my iPhone 5, it fixed a bunch of other issues (iCloud bookmark/reading list sync draining battery) but not this one. Oh, or the fact that when I use an app that controls volume (Music, Podcasts, Nightstand) it changes the default volume for text messages notifications. :P

The maps for Melbourne are totally screwy. My workplace has been eliminated - and it's a school. A nearby hospital that closed years ago is mysteriously back. I headed to a meeting in Armadale yesterday and decided to test Apple maps. It took me 4 km away to a railway station. Naturally I had to resort to Google maps to get perfect directions to the correct place. They must have got the 3 stooges to map Melbourne.

Is anyone having a problem with Apple maps in a city like Paris, where I currently live? I've written to them but... A major feature of the maps must be the location of Metro stations - it's essential for tourists particularly but even locals. Yet they don't even include the major destination of Opera on their map. And it's the case with at least five others which are not included. How long does it take?
