Master Drive to Slave Drive

Certainly.

Each drive has a simple diagram for what jumpers need to be set where on the pin slots. All you have to do is look at that diagram (or look at the manufacturer’s site which would list it) and move the jumpers around. A pair of tweezers is about all you need. 5 minute job.

I would suggest you locate the model of the drive which can be seen using System Profiler. Once you know what model it is you can go to:

Look up your model hard drive and there you will be able to find everything about it including jumper settings and configurations.

The settings should be listed somewhere physically on the drive as well but if not the website has the info.

The jumpers are located on the end of the drive next to the ribbon cable. For Maxtor drives, remove the jumpers completely for slave.

Master and slave are for addressing purposes only and have no bearing on which is the boot drive. That is controlled with Startup Disk in System Preferences.
