I have an Iphone 4s.

Last night I started the update to IOS6 and it put my phone into recovery mode. I restored to a backup and re-entered my wifi password. This worked fine and I again started the phone off updating.

The update was successful and it asked for a wifi password. I entered it a number of times and it wouldn't accept it. I then asked it to forget my network as suggested.

Since then it is telling my the password is incorrect every time I enter it. The password is 100% not wrong.

So now i have a phone stuck at the update complete screen. There are no longer blue arrows on the wifi options so i cannot do anything.

I tried a hard reset, restoring the phone again, turning off my router and modem for an extended period, entering the network info manually. None of these things have worked.

Is this something apple will need to fix? At the moment I have a very expensive paperweight and no phone. You would not believe how frustrated this has gotten me today.

This worked for me:

Go to Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings

This will erase your network settings. Then, find your wifi network and select. When I initially did this, if first came up with an Apple log in web page but I cancelled and the wifi finally connected correctly.

As a general comment/recommendation to all. We all expect things to work right from Apple. That's why we buy this stuff. But a large OS update essentially has an infinite number of code paths to check. I don't know how this one got throught Apple's QA team, but it did and they will have to do a root cause analysis on that one. But, nobody NEEDED to get updated on the first day. We all just wanted it. I think if you don't want to risk spending some debug time, wait a few days when a big update comes out and the bugs and tips to get around things will have filtered out by then. No reason to put yourself in a position of getting frustrated or angry. Just my two cents...

Aigain the fix you describe does nothing to resolve my issue. No web page comes up at any point it never gets further than the password screen.

My 3G is showing as working but any app i try to load immediately tells me there is no internet connection.

When I enter my wifi password it either says unable to connect or password incorrect every time. None of the tips I have read online are of any help to me so far.

I didn't need or want to update yesterday. I too normally avoid updating early. I was at a friends last night and he updated and I had a go of his phone. I liked it so I went into settings to download and left my phone.

I came back to a phone in recovery mode. After a number of hours trying to get the setup process to bypass wifi and finish I finally got my phone back with no wifi and no 3g abilities.

I am frustrated because I had a number of things I needed to do today which I couldn't do without a phone. On top of that everyone i have spoken to has reiterated the same answers to me like im simply an idiot who didn't listen properly.

I don't think expecting apple to acknowledge that the issue I have is real and im not just stupid is unreasonable is it?

I'm having the same problems on my 4S. Try to connect to my Wi-Fi and it just pops up with a message box saying "Unable to Connect to Wi-Fi." I've done just about every step I could find. I'm not getting that login screen at all.

I've done a hard reset. I've restored network settings. I resetted my router. I even restored the entire iPhone back to original factory settings and tested without restoring to a previous back up. Nothing will work. Can't even downgrade anymore. At least I'm on sprint with unlimited 3G, but I would much prefer to be running on my wifi for much faster speeds.

No idiot implications intended here. Obviously, there is something wrong with wifi initialization in this update. To be honest, I'm not even sure of the exact step that fixed mine because all I did was a network reset and initially, it looked like it didn't work, then it was fine after I canceled the apple.com web page login. All I can think of is there's some combination of settings/logic that is getting it stuck in this mode. If we could all somehow dump a copy of all our settings and compare with those having things work and others not, we could probably see a pattern.

As a side note, I tried an update for my wife's iPod touch and it didn't have a single problem. Not sure what else to suggest right now.

Well, I discovered something new. I was able to perfectly connect to my college's wifi. I guess this issue is coming from my router, which makes no sense because every other product, including other Apple products, still connect to it.

My router is a Netgear WGT624v3. I've reset it, turned off the encryption, changed the channel (and tried each channel), it's on the latest firmware for that model, tried giving my iPhone a static IP, nothing will work.

This has to be an iOS 6 problem. iOS 5 worked perfectly fine, and my mom's iPod Touch 3rd Gen still connects (which is running iOS 5). I can't think of anything but to downgrade, and there are no apple stores where I live. (Don't know if Best Buy is allowed to do downgrades or not).

Well I continue to have the same issue and continue to get no assistance from anyone at all.

Literally the only wifi network it will not allow me to connect to is my home one.

I have 100% confirmed that my password is correct yet it always tells me the password is incorrect.

I have tried literally everything suggested by everyone I have spoken to and it continues to do the same thing.

I have done all the steps mentioned in these blogs to fix WIFI password incorrect and nothing works. Matter in fact i think apple knows what the flaw is and absolutely failed to fix and accepet the faliure. I am seriously thinking to change my phone once new andriod launches. I wish apple knows that i am having more than 5 ipads and 10 iphones in my family. Apple is not the same after Steve!

I updated to IOS 6 but my WiFi won't work!
