Why is the shot of the Earth from space, not available as wallpaper in iOS 6? Why did they remove it?
And is there any way to get it back?
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1
Yeah, what gives? This was my favorite wallpaper - elegant, downright gorgeous. Why in the world was it eliminated, especially since it puts one big white blank on the wallpaper thumbs page?
Note to everyone (while I wait for an answer): If you have the Earth as your wallpaper and/or lock screen, DON'T SWITCH AWAY FROM IT. iOS 6 may have eliminated it as an option, but if you already had selected it (back when you were using iOS 5), it's still there. I made the mistake of switching away from it on my iPhone. Now I can't get it back! 😟
Somebody please explain 1) why they got rid of it, and 2) how to get it back...

We're users here and would have no idea of why Apple does what it does.

It is funny to see people complain about how it's the same old pictures every update and they complain that they never remove them.
And now when they remove a few people are in an uproar. lol.
How do I get that onto the iPhone?
Open the link in safari on your iPhone and touch+hold picture click save and set as wallpaper in settings and your all set!
I tried viewing that link in Safari on my iPhone, but the image doesn't show up. I can only see it from viewing it on the computer...
When I view that link on the iPhone, there is no image anywhere in it. I tried clicking every link I could find on that page, but nothing leads to the image. The only way I can see it is if I use the computer. And no, I don't have Private Browsing selected or anything like that.
Had the same problem. Use your computer to download it, then send it to yourself. Use your iPhone to get your mail and move the pic into your photo library. You can select it as wallpaper there or use the wallpaper settings to access and select it. You might want to re-size and center the globe a bit - you'll see options for that. Looks good - nice to have it back.
Download app "WallpapersHD", search for "earth"... you will find it fast, save it and set for wallpaper/lock screen from Photos.

Seems like the image is owned by Google.
What about the other old iOS wallpapers? I keep trying to Google them but with no luck. There was a gold & blue patterned one that I really loved.
Not sure why it disapeared but i was able to get mine back by going to google, search for the image, open it up, right click , save image to a file, Then I sent it to my self in an email, opened the email then saved the image to pictures, then simply open the photo folder, and choose it as walpaper, had to resize it a bit but not much.
Some wallpaper is gone from iOS 6. Why?
