IOS 6 Wifi issue resolution

I have also tried the majority of the suggestions included in this thread and others without success. Upon downloading the "new and improved" IOS 6, my wifi connectivity ceased to exist. I am able to toggle the wifi on and off. I am also able to view my home network, but when I select my home network, I get the clockwise, oscillating fan icon and my iphone 4s never actually connects to the network. I've tried to forget the network, renew the lease, switched the proxy settings to auto, etc... Nothing has worked and I find it difficult to believe that that the engineers at Apple are unable to devise a fix.

Upgraded my iphone4 iPad 2, iPad 3. The only device originally with a problem was the iPad 2. I removed the sim no luck. Installed the sim into the iPad 3 now my iAd 3 won't connect to the wifi. I now looked at the belkin 'n' router. Changed the setting from 'b','g','n' settings to 'g' only can now connect all devices. I did try 'wep' that worked on the iPad 3. Resolution is to run the router as a class 'g' router for all devices to work. Not really satisfactory considering they were all working as class 'n' network previously. Looks like apple have been tinkering with the implementation of these network protocols.

I had this problem also with my iPhone 4. When I called support (after getting disconnected three times), the representative wanted me to reset my router. Since my iPad 3 with iOS 5 and two Macs (one with Lion, one with Mountain Lion) were having no problems with the router (as was the iPhone before the upgrade), I knew this wasn't the solution. When the support representative instisted, I just waited a couple of minutes and then told her it was done. I was in the middle of downloading several large files and didn't want to reboot my router just for sport.

She then gave me the "trick" of turning off wifi and turning it back on, but the signal is still weak.

I stupidly upgraded my iPad also, so now I have poor wifi on my two most portable devices. 😟

i've had nothing but problems trying to setup my wifi to my home network after update.

I see my netork on my iphone, but says "unable to join".

I went in and "forget the network" but now what do I do?

Totally lost and feel stupid..any help? thanks!

upgraded to 6 on this 4s iphone early today... The wi fi button was totally greyed out and inoperable. Tried different simple things of seemingly no consequence.

one that I think HELPED was to go to settings -> General-> Reset-> Reset Network Settings. Then plugged cord into computer, opened itunes on the puter, to the iphone page and the summary tab and left it at that doing nothing except browsed the internet awhile on Foxfire and let some fifteen minutes pass.

Next I checked the iphone, the wi fi button was operable although I could not yet see the home network (which is comcast through airport to laptop). Let some more time elapse.

but turned the phone off with the button at the top that puts it to sleep though have kept it plugged into computer and itunes on laptop is open. After awhile I checked the wifi setting and my own computer network was FINALLY visible (I had not turned it off or reset it or anything) for the first time since the upgrade on the phone. I don't know what worked but so far it is holding.

I remain convinced that magic, gremlins and dumb luck is involved somewhere here.

Hope someone can glean something helpful from this.

The fix (whatever it was) did not hold. Again the wi fi button is greyed out and inoperable. Kind of short on good ideas.

Mine is working at the moment but the wifi signal is much weaker than before the ios6 upgrade. It seems obvious that thewre are multiple problems here. I would be good for an update from apple on this serious problem.

Well, reading on the web, looks like there are a lot of us with wi-fi problems after the upgrade... (on iPhone 4, iPad2 upgraded with no problems) 😟

I never had the apple.com page described, but I cannot connect to iTunes store with wi-fi on (3G is working).

Connection comes and goes, Safari, FB, and everything using a connection doesn't works.

I, as well as everybody else, hope Apple will solve this ASAP, in the mean time I think I'll have to roll back to iOS5.

Upgraded my iphone 4S to IOS 6 Wednesday and still can't connect to my home network. I have tried turning off the security in the router and I get a message "Unable to join network". Then go back into the router and enable the security and try to connect and get a message"Incorrect password". I had no problems using my wifi prior to the upgrade. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would think that Apple would be monitoring these discussion boards and have a fix for us by now. PLEASE I NEED HELP!

Try changing your wifi router from an 'n' type network to a 'g' type network. 'N' type typically are stronger signal and faster speed. Refer to your wifi router instruction to effect the change. Hope this helps.

Our router is a 802.11g, The wifi has never been an issue until I upgraded the iphone to ios 6. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I see the last post was on 21st, I'm still having the problem on 25th.

Cant reset or change ruters as I'm currently on assignment and living in hotel-apt.

Wifi has a login screen which is being effectively hijacked by the apple.com 503 Connect failed connection to apple.com (2.21.61.15) could not be established......................at which point the wifi or router connection is killed.

Obviously I cannot connect to apple.com if I've not yet logged onto the internet.

this is more than a paain in the butt as I use facetime to talk to and see my wife and young kids halfway round the world - the bandwidth is too low and variable to support video skype on the pc and the past 5 weeks since buying the iPad on my last visit home have been a joy.

I'm back home again in 2 weeks and will be throwing the ipad over the counter in the storewith the request for a cash refund - the device is nt fit for purpose, apple support has been negligible and there has been no effort made by apple techs to liase with loyal customers via these support blogs.

I have this same issue of not connecting to my wifi network as well.

What I have found is all the time the wifi network has an active internet connection it works perfect, Usually my network does not connect to the internet as i only use it for media streaming within the home, the iphone drops the wifi and falls back to 3g, as soon as i restore an active internet connection it works again, why should i have to have an active internet connection just to stream my music and media?

My set up worked perfectly with IOS5 so why change the criteria for a valid network to it has to be connected to the internet.

Also if i disable 3g data it still disconnects from the wifi network leaving no network connection at all.

Does anyone from Apple actually monitor these forums? It is blindingly obvious that they have got a serious problem with WiFi - and not just the missing test page that they messed up on day 1. Telling people to upgrade, replace or reboot routers simply isn't an option. Phones and tablets are mobile devices that have to connect via wireless access points in public areas, workplaces and hotels over which we have no control, since we don't own them.

Suggesting a 'fix' that involves downgrading WiFi security ('try using WEP') is just irresponsible.

It appears that the only option is to downgrade to IOS5, which is not exactly made easy!

Please will someone from Apple have the decency to give us a status update on these problems - we are not making them up and yes, we have tried every suggested fix going, from manual config, changing security protocols, resetting and rebooting, changing channels - it is still BROKEN!
