iOS6 - Terrible Maps - When is Google Maps coming back

I have just installed iOS6 and I am so disappointed with the new Maps application. Steve Jobs would have never allowed such a mediocre application to be included in the iOS.

Apple, please bring back Google Maps so that we can actually use for our real life!

And I disagree, I have the TomTom app (have had it for some time) and used it as a functional navigational tool. I've also used the new Apple one and it worked. There are others here that have used it and had no problems. It will only get better with time just like Google maps and navteq and others.

My preference would have had Apple going with ESRI but they didn't ask me.

Apple maps does work. It turns on, it talks, its pretty. It will get you to where you are going most of the time.

But most of the time was good enough a few years ago. Since a few years ago, Google Maps has come a long way.

In the last 3 years, in my personal experience, it has never ever once taken me to the wrong location. That was accross Indonesia, Singapore and Australia. I use maps a lot for navigating to completely unfamiliar areas so rely on it often and on multiple times daily.

In using Apple Maps, in Melbourne Australia, in some of the most built up and established suburbs, Apple maps in just a few weeks of sample testing failed on multiple occassions to get me to the right spot.

And often it when searching, it results in a "No Result Found."

Keep putting lipstick on your pig Deggie, but we all know its a pig.

Most smaller cities and towns in Australia are misplaced by a 30 minute drive or simply not shown when browsing Apple Maps. If you browse round the continent, most coastal cities and towns are shown way inland or not mentioned at all. Inland cities suffer the same displacement. Like Las Vegas, Alice Springs in the middle of the continent is surrounded by desert, but Apple Maps shows that it is a desert.

And with a hot summer coming to this part of the world, more city folks are going to risk problems like this -

Sadly the media dwelling on these safety issues just means more sales for another company. It could have been so easily avoided back in September when iOS 6 was shoved out the door without enough thought to the consequences.
