iOS6 - Terrible Maps - When is Google Maps coming back

I have just installed iOS6 and I am so disappointed with the new Maps application. Steve Jobs would have never allowed such a mediocre application to be included in the iOS.

Apple, please bring back Google Maps so that we can actually use for our real life!

I'm pretty sure that however much the iOS Maps improves it won't have any equivalent to streetview as I can't see apple spending the money on the worldwide fleet of cars. There would also be a limited benefit to building an interface from iOS maps to streetview as they are using different map sets. Actually my street is much more up to date in iOS maps than in google.

People have suggested using google maps as a web App. that is fine except you don't get street view. I remember one of the first thing I showed people on my original iPhone to impress (and disturb in equal measure) was to tap on a contact address to get the map location and to tap again to show their house. Never again :- (

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - An entire city is in the ocean, a farm has been labelled as an airport, highways end in the middle of nowhere and a hospital now covers the centre of British city Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace.

Welcome to the new world of Apple Maps that greeted iPhone and iPad users when they downloaded the highly anticipated update to the consumer giant's mobile software platform, iOS 6."

WOW, totally disappointed in Apple! you take something that has become important to us and replace it with garbage, like microsoft you cram garbage down our throats, from Trudy Muller "the more people use it, the better it will get" That doesn't help in the mean time now does it! So what are you saying Trudy? is the map only going to be better in area's that have a high percentage of Apple users? Totally ludacris Apple

I just received my iPhone 5 today. I am normally a huge Apple fan. Maps on iOS 6 is almost a total failure. Google maps on my iPhone 4 was one of my most useful apps. I used it to find nearby businesses and either call or visit them. iOS 6 maps is almost useless for this task. A search for BMW finds none in Kansas City and lists 6 local gas stations instead. The only way I will be happy with Apple is if they allow Google to put Google Maps in the App Store. Give users a choice! If with time iOS 6 maps gets better I may start using it again.

Frustrated iOS 6 user

iOS 6 is really ******* me off. The maps are terrible. My golf GPS app is no useless, the local course now has 5 holes covered either fully or 3/4 by cloud cover. Not having the YouTube app is also ****. A lot of my subscriptions aren't available to watch on the iPad because of flash.

I didn't even have to think twice about wanting to upgrade to the iPhone 5 at the end of my contract, but I'm seriously thinking of jumping ship to android for my handset and tablet.

I totally agree with you about Jobs NEVER allowing such a backward MAPS app on a New OS. The maps are so far removed from what Google and others are sharing. They are literally a year behind!

Where did they get these images? Not from anything going on today.

I have bought Apple products since 1978. I'm an old dog that loves to learn new tricks. I'll continue to buy as long as Apple continues to listen to to guys like me.

Never product a product with such backward technology as the Maps app in OS6!

Jobs did introduce flops (which subsequently disappeared pretty quickly), but to be fair to the great dictator, he never removed a SUPERIOR product in favour of an INFERIOR product. Stepping backwards wasn't his thing. He may have stepped forward in the wrong direction on occasion, he may have been a nasty mo - fo, but he would have hung, drawn and quartered the apple maps team before he would have allowed this rubbish be released. Now... Huskie... If you are not an apple employee, quit being a last-word freak.
