I just got an Apple TV, and a eForCity HDMI to 5 RCA Cable. When I plug the HDMI into the Apple TV and 3 of the 5 cables into my TV it doesn't display anything.
The cable I got has five colors; red, yellow, white, blue, and green. My TV only has spots for red, yellow, and white.
What am I doing wrong? All I have is an Apple TV, and an older TV that only has the Red/Yellow/White spots.

HDMI is the only supported method. There is no guarantee anything else will work.
The Red, White and Yellow (composite + audio) plug is different fromthe 5 (component video + Audio) RCA style plugs.
You will likely need an adapter (HDMI to Composite video) to make it work. Something like this:

A modest proposal is to buy an HDMI TV.
I would not recommend as there is no guarantee but make sure to check the return policy if you decide to go that route

Certainly. HDMI devices can lip sync but once you downgrade the signal to composite video and separate audio, you lose all the advantages of HDMI.
The converter will work, but once you get used to HDMI, composite is simply awful.
Right. Sammy's got an ancient TV. She/He's not looking for the best, highest quality experience, s/he just wants the appleTV to work. The adapter will work, but it certainly won't be high definition, but the TV probably isn't high def either.
While vazandrew is correct, telling someone to not do anything because it is not supported is a bit short sighted.
I never said not to do it. I simply said it isn't supported and thus there is no guarantee it will work. It's as simple as checking the return policy should it not work.
