iOS 6 WiFi option is GREYED OUT (unrelated to iOS 6 WiFi connectivity issues)

As reported in an earlier thread, since upgrading iPhone 4S from 5.1.1 to 6, the WiFi option is turned OFF and is greyed out/disabled. Have tried all combinations of hard/soft reboots, router resets, network settings reset, cleared cookies, etc. Nothing. The WiFi option is completely disabled.

WiFi worked fine prior to iOS 6. Now I can't turn it on. My wife's WiFi is fine, she can toggle on/off and hasn't had any other connectivity issues as reported by others.

So I basically got my iPhone replaced last week because of a sound issue and now this week the wifi button greyed out with the new iPhone. This is really frustrating. I backed up the iPhone and then reset it then backed up the reset and nothing it said my backup is corrupted now when I try to back it up the process takes 2 seconds and its back at new factory settings and the wifi is still messed up. I am really dissapointed in Apple and I think people are starting to realize the Androids are better I really want to just smash this phone but I'm going tomorrow to the store to see father replace it and hopefully I get my information back. This is not a Merry Christmas at all.

I have the same problem.

I have had the iPhone 4S since March and updated it to iOS6 OTA in September, I believe. The wifi worked fine until 2 days ago. I think I updated it to iOS6.01 too OTA, but about a week ago a dropped it. Nothing broke, and the wifi worked fine after but just two days ago the wifi stopped working. I tried the "switching to airplane mode then hard restart, then turning airplane mode off and turning the wifi on" and that worked for a little while. I tried that 3 times and it all worked, but wifi was lost shortly after connecting each time. Now my wifi button is greyed out. I also tried letting it die and recharging it, but it doesn't work. I don't know whether this is because of the update, or because I dropped it. I don't think it is because I dropped it, because nothing shattered, and the wifi worked fine for days after that. It's only recently where my wifi did not work.

I am very upset, because I use my phone a lot at home too and the wifi makes browsing a lot faster and easier, plus it preserves the battery too.

My battery runs out very quickly now, in 1 hour I lost 20% without touching it at all.

My battery could have lasted the whole day without touching it before, and it would have been at 94% or higher.

I called Apple yesterday, but since I did not have a warranty, they could not do anything about it. Which I find is very stupid and useless, you pay so much for a phone, a high quality one too, and they expect you to pay even more for insurance? The insurance isn't cheap, either. This is really unfair because many people have the same problem too. 347,042 views and 2,508 replies on the largest thread about this issue.

I expected a lot better from Apple.

We need to continue posting about this until it gets brought up into their attention even more. Apple NEEDS to fix this as soon as possible for all of us.

Yea I agree with you totally. i did TONS of research on how to fix it and ive tried every technique but no good. When I get home from vacation I am going to the store and complaining. And honestly, Apple shouldnt need a warranty to fix this because this is their fault and their stupid OS 6.0.1 that caused this. I did OTA update also. I used to always do it but now this OTA update didnt work out. I am really annoyed and Apple better listen to their customers. It's funny how bug companies can take adavantage of us so easily. I read that Apple doesn't even read these discussion boards but I am sure they got tons of complaints emailed to them (including one from me).

I had the same problem with Wifi greyed out with my 4S and iOS 6.0.1.For the first time restoring the device via itunes fixed it and I felt very lucky..buit t it didn't last too long..:/ the **** thing suddenly returned with no obvious reason! Restoring iphone didn't help this time.. The idea of putting iphone into a freezer seemed a bit risky for me, so I decided do try the solution with video and LED flash. I simply turned on flashlight (external app) and left the phone until it completely discharged...and gues what? IT WORKED! So all you people please try that solution before visitting apple store - it's much safer than freezer and it worked for me.. Even though I was a bit sceptic about it.

Well, i'm done with Apple... For months i had batery problems, wifi problems, yellow tin screen...

Bought my self last week a Galaxy S3 LTE... much much much better phone than Iphone 5 or 4S...

I think this is what Apple deserve right now. All they want is to sell Iphones... they don't care about problems...

If you can or dare... jump to Galaxy S3... i had an Iphone 2, 3G - 4S - 5.... but only thing i regret is the money i've spent on Crapple Iphone 5
