iOS 6 WiFi option is GREYED OUT (unrelated to iOS 6 WiFi connectivity issues)

As reported in an earlier thread, since upgrading iPhone 4S from 5.1.1 to 6, the WiFi option is turned OFF and is greyed out/disabled. Have tried all combinations of hard/soft reboots, router resets, network settings reset, cleared cookies, etc. Nothing. The WiFi option is completely disabled.

WiFi worked fine prior to iOS 6. Now I can't turn it on. My wife's WiFi is fine, she can toggle on/off and hasn't had any other connectivity issues as reported by others.

I called Apple Support, they are having me do a full reset of my phone...blah. That *****. I'm going to give it a try. Right now backing up 20 gigs of Pics/Vids off my phone then I'll give it a shot.

Not only am I doing a full reset, but they also had me fiddle with my Sync settings in iTunes (when connected to iPhone).

Under Info, make sure "Sync Contacts with..., Sync Calendars with, and Sync Notes with... are all checked and hit "Apply" at the bottom right of screen. If they are already checked, uncheck and recheck them. Not sure what this is all about, I think this is what the guy early in this thread was getting at (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4313031?start=0&tstart=0) I thought he was talking about doing this within the iPhone and not in iTunes.

I'll report back when I have this all done and let you know.

LISTEN EVERYONE WHO HAS PROBLEMS WITH WIFI WHEN UPDATING iOS6

If your wifi is greyed out:

you need to go to the apple store. You're wifi chip has expired! Wifi chip experation dates were checked upon the new software, that is why some iPhones still work and others don't. They will replace it for you free of charge (don't quote me on this). It was free for me.

I myself have an iPhone4S and they told me exactly this.
