    I still have the same issue with the WIFI being Grayed out but also my apps crash and ive got crappy signal always on one bar (iPhone 4s) ..

    Anyway i had enough of using crappy 3G and thought i'll call Apple witch i did and i got through and they told me to restore and everything but still even after restoring as a new phone it was just not working. They told me to book an appointment with genius bar, she said if nothing works cause if still under warranty they'll replace my iPhone with a new one. Hopefully this goes through for Monday 1st .. Gotta say though although Apple have effected most of us there very welcoming and helpful.


    Hope this all gets fixed for us!

    I had the same problem since yesterday but thank goodness it's back now! I've been restoring my iphone for I can't remember how many times now. But for the nth time today, it finally worked!


    The original plan was to downgrade to iOS 5.1.1. I failed twice so on the third time, I decided to bring back the iOS6. MIRACLE, I am now able to use the wifi again. Toggle it on and off and connect it to our Wifi.

    I started this thread because that other thread was ruined by too many people posting with connectivity issues, not WiFi disabled (greyed) issues.


    Apple is supposed to call me back today, we'll see what they have to say...I'm still nerfed.

    Hi guys! I'm back after few days. After 1st upgrade to iOS6, I've got WiFi greyed out. I managed to downgrade to 5.1.1 on the same day and everything was OK (WiFi working). This was doable, because it was on the first day after iOS6 was released and Apple was still signing / allowed 5.1.1.
    Then I waited until saturday evening, when I tried upgrading to iOS6 for the 2nd time. Guess what... WiFi greyed out again - of course. I thought that even though the problem will show up again, I would be able to easily downgrade again. Well, you already know what happend, Apple stopped signing 5.1.1 and I was screwed.


    I called official service provider yesterday and made 10 min talk with them, explaining everything since I was the first customer called about that problem. They promised, if they get the device early in the morning next day, I will get the new one on the same day afternoon, If they don't manage to resolve the problem using software.

    Exactly that happend - they didn't manage to repair it. I've got new refurbished device which did not find iCloud backup ("##$%#"$) but still... upgraded to iOS6, WiFi working.


    And now the interesting part, which I observed during this time. I have been iPhone user for only 3 months, since June. My device was overheating all the time, as I managed to figure out right now. It felt suspicious to me, but I didn't want to over react while convincing myself it is like it should be. Everytime device was doing something more serious or just charging, it was really warm. Before you say this is normal, I may stop you... of course it is normal, I know these stuff, but it was definitely too warm (not too say hot). It was just like that when I was upgrading to the iOS6 for the first time... it was extremly warm. Too warm if you ask me.

    That is not true for my new refurbished device. It is on the same charger as the old device was right now as I write these lines and it is not even warm. The whole upgrade process few minutes ago made it warm just so I could feel something - not even close to warm or even too warm.

    This made me think about other posts saying about warmness or heat as a possible reason for malfunction WiFI chip or something like that.

    I exchanged my 4S today for a new one. Not much questions asked, they acknowledged the malfunction and handed out a new one within minutes. The new one is running 5.1.1 and I will not update it until there is a 6.1 out.


    Funny story though: The phone support people asked me - almost begged - not to exchange the phone as they are working on a fix. But as they could not say when it will come out I declined. They didn't even make a real offer like "we will buy you a 5GB 3G plan for a month" or something. Oh well…

    I too experienced the issue with WiFi functionality being disabled entirely with my upgrade to IOS6.  I waited for several days for Apple to address, but it never happened.  Today I called Support, and they had me troubleshoot (resetting network settings, restoring, etc) but I had already done all those things by reading them here.  They decided to make an appointment for me at a local Genius bar where my phone was examined, and it was determined by Joe (Upper West Side Genius) that due to the update, my hardware was now broken.  Since I was still under warranty, they replaced my phone with no questions asked (I do NOT have Apple Care).  I hope this helps those out there who are as frustrated as I.  I am an admitted Apple fanatic, and it was very upsetting that they didnt seem to be addressing the issue which was obviously plagueing so many people.  Good luck everyone!!!!!

    It seems that They have unsupported wifi hardware in scattered iphones around the world. That might be the reason They dont get a fix, and they change iphones that Easy. .

    Finally got my appointment at genius bar, they swapped my phone with no questions asked.

    Yes, my iPhone is finally fixed. Same solution as everyone else - I took it to Apple Store a "genius" ran diagnostics, declared it "bad hardware" and gave me a new phone all within 15 minutes.


    For reference, my phone was 4S bought 3 months ago (June). I had tried just about everything, and nothing fixed the problem. So now I have a new phone with "good hardware" running iOS 6.


    Very annoying, though. And because of the interruption in my service, I lost my first ever chess game in Social Chess (victory by expiration because I couldn't get on to play my move). Extra frustrating!

    4s -> wifi ok

    4 -> wifi ok

    new ipad -> wifi ok

    ipad 2 -> wow, wifi button greyed out


    Restoring and resetting numerous times the ipad 2, no use!!!
