    Just recently upgraded my 4s to ios6 and wifi button is grayed out. Hard to believe this issue has been reported numerous times since Sept/2012 and there is still no official fix for it. Extremely disappointing!

    Iphone 4s.  IOS 6/0/1/ (10A523) . Аналогичная ситуация.  Телефон работает неделю. Не падал, не тонул, лежал на столе, W-Fi работал нормально. Вчера вечером Wi-Fi пропал, обновление, переустановка, перезагрузка, выключение и включение, а также танец с бубном ничего не дали. Очень интересно, чтобы это значило ???

    было бы здорово если бы хоть какая то електроника говорила нам. "не выклучай сегодня, завтра я не буду работать, и не танцуй с бубном, только если с саблями и предпочтительно в зубах"

    яблочко говорит, что телефон надо менять и если на гарантии, меняет бесплатно.

    iPhone 4S here. 


    1st and last Apple product i will personally ever buy.. 


    i expect to be fully refunded for the ***** £58 phone bill last month due to your software failing and defaulting back onto my 3G data without my knowledge. 

    I am also shocked and disgusted at the lack of customer care...other than the advice to book in at the genius bar,,,ITS A PHONE NOT A SICK PET GOING TO SEE A VET,,,,


    Admit you cocked up, AGAIN, update the software, let me get my contracts worth of usage then leave you behind as i walk off with a new HTC or SAMSUNG because it sure as **** isnt going to be any other Apple product.


    I will also be advising my company NOT to invest any money or effort into making our vehicles "iphone compatible" as your level of customer care is simply unacceptable for our standards,

    further more we will be halting plans to equip all team leaders and production management with ipads.  



    remember.. QUALITY over QUANTITY you greedy ********

    Hey buddy ! I can see and feel you anger as i do when in 2012 my iphone 4s 64gb was ******! But the very next day i called apple care and followed all their crap and suggestion to fix it, ultimately i keep them on phone until next 1hr as they trying to fix through soft and hard reset bla bla. Then after-all i said i cant wait for your fix and need my cell replaced instantly . They tried their level best to hold me until next software update. ! Then i said i want to get my cell checked to near by app service center . Once they provide me an complain no i took to apple center and said i am here to replace and here is my complain no. I sit quitely for while and then they replaced me to new iphone 4s with ios6 installed and working wifi. Go try it!!!

    The update to the 4s was done by the Genius at the store - we could not do it. 


    My other posts providing futher details, advising that you go to an Apple Store and ask for a manager if you are a 4s owner and demand the update, have been deleted by Apple and the discussions closed.  How about that, gang?

    Just to add my 2p worth.


    I turned the light on the phone on and kept doing video recording to drain the battery, I let it die completely, recharged it and the wireless came back on. Powering on and off through the software didn't work. None of the other suggestions I'd read were any help, and to be honest some were stupid.


    The best thing I can think of is that there is some hardware on the wifi that gets put in an inconsistent state and that powering on and off does not fix it as there could be some sort of trickle going through the hardware to keep it alive. Draining the battery allows the hardware to be really turned off and it puts it back into the right state.


    No idea how long this will last and no idea what caused it, it wasn't due to an IOS upograde as I did that weeks ago.


    Anyway, it would be nice to hear from Apple about this issue. Though given their appalling track record of acknowledging any faults I doubt we'll ever get a response.


    If this hadn't worked I'd have cut my losses and dumped my iPhone and moved to a Samsung, if I get any more hassle with the iPhone I will!


    I've been buying Apple since the Apple Lisa in 1984 and currently have five Mac's, three iPads, n iPods and 3 iPhones at home. The lack of innovation in recent years (don't tell me that a super thin iMac or a high res Macbook is innovation), the constant legal challenges from Apple, the poor QC that appears to be coming from Apple now (and this started on Jobs watch, not Tim Cooks) makes me think Apple may be losing its way. I know the share price is super high, but I'm old enough to remember IBM ruling the roost, Microsoft being number 1, Cisco being the most valuable company, Sun being a force to be reckoned with. As with the Roman empire, the British Empire, the Soviet Union, things do come to an end and things do change. To quote Churchill


    "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

    My 4s running 6.01 had Greyed out wifi setting. I powered down completely and put it into a freezer for 5 minutes. My freezer is set at 0 Fahrenheit so not too harsh. It worked. I had to select my network and reenter password. Still working 10 minutes later. If temperature is a factor, perhaps it is related to the case people use. Mine was Otter Box Commuter. I took the case off before using the freezer. Kept it off for now. Try that.

    Mine has now gone wrong again. So draining the battery doesn't provide a permanent fix.


    Back to plan B of a factory reset, but now looking at Plan C which is a Samsung Galaxy 3.

    Мне думается, что если это програмный глюк, то механическое воздействие посредством холодильника либо строительного фена является не обоснованным. Хотя возможно в этом и есть секрет   - IOS не  обходимо взламывать не програмно, а механически

    I'm sorry but, "doing their level best" AFTER they have released a sub-standard quality product is simply unacceptable.

    quality assurances should have been met to ensure that we the customer were protected.

    Their quality standards are laughable and the after-care / customer support is truly awful.

    Further more, expecting people to travel to the exclusive apple shops to replace a new handset with a "re-furbished unit" is absolutely shocking.

    My contract included the price of a NEW iphone 4s,,,, not 8 months of a new phone then a second hand replacement model.

    I feel that by now having the Apple logo or "ipod" symbology on our product it may impact on sales and public awareness.

    As I for one, would now have serious doubts about investing in our vehicles having personally experienced Apples level of / lack of customer support and willingness to address quality control issues.


    to cut a long story short, Apple need to apologise and prioitize this as a serious customer concern and address the issue immediately.

    i doubt many people will be purchasing the replacement models knowing how good the new Samsung is at around the same price range.

    Hi all, wanted to report that I had the same issue & tried all suggestions to fix, restore, etc etc and nothing worked. Went down to Apple Store today & they swapped out my phone with a brand new one. Said it was a hardware issue... My advice - try all suggested fixes, make sure you are all backed up and take phone back to store - if you are lucky enough to live near one. Good luck! Oh - important piece of info: my phone was still under warranty - purchased in April 2012.

    i have spoken to the relevant apple departments and arranged a replacement , and insisted they provide a "RETAIL NEW VERSION", all went well on the phone.....

    then i rang the local Apple store and explained the circumstances and head office have arranged it and added the relevant notes to the system.

    girl says "ok, well come down saturday and pick up the phone,,,"  i said, "a new one? because im not having a refurbed unit"

    to which i was told, due to the age of my warranty, (it expires on January 17th 2013?).. they can not exchange it for a "retail new phone", and will give me whats known as a,,, "PART SERVICED UNIT"... when i questioned further was told that 5% of the phones components had come from other phones. but its as good as new???? ***,,, it should be new.


    ALL PART SERVICE UNITS DO NOT COME IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING,  so if anyone has been given one of these, you have been short changed with a chop shop phone.


    *ps, she had no intention of telling me this information to start with and seemed a bit taken back that i had queried the status of the replacement phone.  Just a heads up people.

    I just got my iphone 16gb black yesterday from the service center. I got it fixed a month ago and just yesterday they informed me that it was ready for pickup. I checked my phone which they had it's IC replaced. I had to pay 2500 php or 60$. Now my phone's wifi works perfectly. And by the way ios 6.0.1 is installed in my phone now.

    I'd be very suprised if they had changed any IC's at all on the iPhone. The iPhone 4S doesn't have many (any?) IC parts that can be easily changed. It is almost impossible to desolder IC's from logic boards without very expensive kit and its almost never cost effective.


    Check out for how tightly packed these phones are.


    They may have changed a whole logic board or the antenna but replacing IC's is almost never done these days.


    So we now have a report of IC's being changed and a report of 6.0.2 coming to the iPhone 4S. New hardware and new software.



    Both ends of the rumour spectrum.
