Photo sort order changed with ios 6

I just updated my iPad to the new IOS just released and I noticed that the sort order for the photos is now different. I had them set so that the first picture (shown on the album) was a depiction of the contents. Now it is no more.

Does anybody know the new sort order?

I upgraded my Iphone 4GS and my new Ipad to 6.0 and many of my photos are now out of order and in the wrong albums. What can I do to correct this? If I erase the Ipad entirely with a reset and sync it to my computer will this fix it and will the photos be in the correct Albums. I have over 13,000 photos so this is a mess. If happened with the last upgrade of iphoto and I had to have Apple walk me through going back to the previous Iphoto version. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

My previous reply was deleted by Apple. So let me try again. Perhaps I was not clear in my reply that THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND IS NOT RESOLVED.

Perhaps I was not clear in saying that NO, I PERSONALLY HAVE NOT FILED A REPORT WITH APPLE.

Now, I'll remove my statement asking that if a report can be filed that it be done with the statement...

<question to community> HOW WOULD I GO ABOUT FILLING A BUG REPORT?. </question to community>

Mayby somebody else here did file a report. If I filed one too, maybe we would get a better response. Of course, I do know that apple is reading this because they deleted my reply because "These forums are intended for technical questions that can be answered by the community."

That is too funny. They changed the ordering AGAIN. It use to be by name, then up to iOS 5.1 it would put the earliest creation date up front.

We number our presentation photos numerically....01item, 02item, 03item.... It will follow that order as long as the "Creation" date is the same for all the photos. After we number our photos we strip the Meta Data to make the creation date the same for all the images we want to be ordered by number. Works pretty well.

Just remember it goes by the files CREATION date. It doesn't use the modified date.

It's not really a bug, everything needs to use an ordering scheme. The problem is they keep changing it. I vote for putting them in order by NAME because that makes MY life easier.

It is sorted by creation date. At one point I organized my photos by opening them in Photoshop, selecting the picture and opened a new file and pasted the image in the new file. I would resave the image with a 1 at the end, and the image would show up at the end of the folder on my iphone. This is a timely way to do it though and if you have 1000 pics on your phone, could take weeks to do. I'm seriously considering downgrading back to iOs 5 and then downgrading my itunes back to the version that sorted my photos by name.

A good news. I have just read this article on 9to5mac.

http://9to5mac.com/2012/10/01/iphoto-for-mac-about-to-get-much-needed-bug-fixes/

In the coming days, iPhoto for Mac will see an update that focuses on major bug fixes. The current version, 9.4, was released alongside OS X Mountain Lion. We’ve heard many reports from readers having issues syncing photos to their iOS devices via iTunes. Some users also reported random iPhoto for Mac crashes. Apple will fix both of these issues and more per the release notes of iPhoto 9.4.1:

-Improves the reliability of syncing to iOS devices via iTunes.

-Fixes an issue that could cause iPhoto to quit unexpectedly when using the Export command.

-Addresses an issue that could cause iPhoto to quit unexpectedly when upgrading calendars, multiple books, and cards.

-Resolves an issue with viewing and downloading photos synced via Facebook albums.

I know some of you don't use iPhoto, but it might be the cause.

It did the same thing to mine. Have all my photos manualy organised into events in iPhoto and they used to sync to my iPad 3 in that order. Just noticed today that they are all messed up. I downloaded the above update and it doesn't fix the issue at all. When in iTunes and I select the photos events to sync to my iPad they do not match the order which they are in in iPhoto. Hopefully we get a fix very annoying!

I have been having the same issue with sorting photos since upgrading to iPhoto 9.4 and iOS 6. iPhoto 9.4.1 did not solve the issue either. The issue is I have photo albums in iPhoto sorted by date descending so the newest photos are at the top. Since the upgrade they are sorted ascending and nothing I have tried resolves it and I have tried everything. Bummer when one of my albums has over 3,000 photos but even the ones with a few hundreds causes pain when trying tos how someone my photos.

I contacted Apple last week to report the issue. I now have a case number. I was escalated up to third level support and have an excellent tech working with me on this. He was replicate my issue on four different iOS devices in his lab. He was advised to have me try a restore which we both doubted would resolve the issue. I tried the restore on my iPad and no luck. I have advised the tech of this and I am now waiting for a response.

I will keep this posting advised of my progress. Looking forward to someone resolving this with a software update.
