Photo sort order changed with ios 6

Um, and if I wanted softward that tradionally was buggy I would buy a PC.

And like others have posted - no joy with iTunes 11. Still does not sort the photos correctly. But they are working on it.

flyingemberIt's an easy fix and no, code is not hard to write unless you aren't any good. I just think it's on the last page if the bug fixes!

They just need to do a sort preference on the phone! Better yet add an external microSD slot and let us add photos to that!! Do away with the iPod Photo Cache!!

Hey guys, I've found the solution to the current issue on a MAC. If in iPhoto the photos in the event are selected to be sorted by the date and after the sync with iPAD they are all mixed up (not by date as you would like to see), then go again to the same event in iPhoto and from the menu pick view - sort photos - sort by keyword. Now the order of your pics is not changed, but on IPAD the difference will be obvious !. This worked for me.

Also there is other solution, you have to buy iPhoto for iOS and use it instead of default Photos.app. The photos there are always displayed correctly, according to your choise in iPhoto.

Ok, so a few of you are on the right track; unfortunately Said606 is not. My $4.99 experiment to buy the iOS iPhoto version results in exactly the same problem as before. iTunes does NOT correctly interpret the sort meta data created by the Mac OS X version of iPhoto.

The problem is NOT sorting photos within an event, it is that the movement of events from iPhoto to iPhone (regarding of the app used on iOS) screws up because of iTunes. Full stop.

So we are still waiting for Apple to solve the simplest of fundamental computer science tasks. Preserving sorting order across data transfer (regardless of how the meta data is stored and used). This is Computer Science 101, Apple...get on it.

Apple does not read these posts Goebel. I suggest going to www.apple.com/feedback and leaving a ton of feedback there. I must have sent a hundred over the years, probably 10 alone about iPhoto.

As a brand new iPad user and professional photographer who mainly wants to use the iPad as a very portable photo album, the ability to sort the photo order in my albums is of vital importance. I too tried to rename the photos creating a numerical order for uploading in sequence and display in sequence by name. I also could not use any naming that was more or less than the original format created in my camera. Nevertheless, iPad's "Photos" app scrambled the order. I could not figure out how to sort automatically by name nor by manually moving them around once in an album. So on another theme here that I have not been able to find again, I bought a different photo album app that lets me do all of this easily and intuitively. "Photo Manager Pro" is only $2.99 and lets you do all of this and choose a shot for the folder cover as well. Just downloaded it and it is working really well. Have more exploration to do like how to change a folder (think album) name. But this is about the best $2.99 I have spent.

Wasn't aware that Apple pay no attention to their own forums.

These forums are user-to-user. It would be impossible for Apple to monitor and respond to everything here. The feedback page is the official way.

I wrote here I spoke with second level support for over two hours and apple knows now what the problem is. I have a case open.

All this is very interesting. But it assumes you use iPhoto to organize your images. But there are a lot of us who use other programs like Photoshop or Lightroom. To be universal, the photo app in iPad should respect all naming and allow for manual arrangement of both albums and the individual images in each.

Wrong. This is not a software challenge ... it is a management problem. We've already seen that this list is not read by Apple, but they don't seem to monitor the large number of points made directly as well.
