This evening I downloaded and installed iOS 6 to my iPhone 4S. I went through the new iOS 6 setting screens and then set my phone down. Upon returning 10 minutes later the phone will not power on. I hooked up power and still nothing the phone appears completely dead. Now what?

Same has happened to me. Thought I was doing the right thing updating my iphone 4 to ios 6, followed the procedure to the letter, even bothered to back up before updating. Now the phone is stuck in a start up, connect to itunes loop. I not connected to computer the phone shuts down. Is that it now, is my phone dead? Itunes doesn't recognise a device, nor does the computer, however it does make the ping sound when a usb device is connected & intermittently pings while connected. Does this mean its recovering or not? Will leave it on over night & hope the best. Just renewed my contract to & passed on a new phone!! Grrrrrr. Come on apple, help us out.

IOS 6 killed my phone too, went into my apple store and up to the genisus bar and the man on the stool next to me had the exact same problem, The tech tried to do the restore for both of us. Aparently my phone is stuck in a loop. Ok so we both upgrade perfectly good phones (mine was 28 days out of warranty) and it kills our phones....

and we have to pay $179 for another phone. yer, not happy!!

I wont be singing the apple song to anyone anymore have told all of my frineds to stay away from the killer IOS6

Apple killed my iPhone 4 too. First they prompt me to download the upgrade to iOS 6 then they wrecked my phone--MY property. No warning. No caution.

I've followed all the various posts in their advice and my phone is still dead. I am angry.

This comes two weeks after iCloud failed for almost three days. iClown.

And I hear Maps is a joke. Basically Apple fobbed a lousy maps app on everyone because they're fighting with Google. It's nice to know that the customer comes last.

I used to love Apple. I bought Apple for my family and for my employees. But I am close to walking away from Apple. I worried when Jobs passed away that things would slip. I'm surprised how fast they have gone downhill.

My trust in Apple is 98% gone.

It happend to my ios iphone 4s as well. After upgrading to IOS 6, everything seems to be fine. Until I had only about 40% of battery that I decided to charge my phone since I was travelling the next day. I noticed after plugging the charger, I get the error "charging is not supported with this cable". I check the phone but it can do everything, make calls, send sms, everything is working fine. It just won't charge. So I decided to backup everything and put the phone in restore mode. But the phone once plugged to my macbook pro can't be detected. So I decided to save battery and turn off the phone instead. But once I powered it off, it will simply boot up back. I had no other choice to save the battery since it won't turn off.

Now the battery is dead. It won't charge (tried different chargers / tried using another laptop and usb cable / bought a car charger) none worked.

So followed the steps by CC45.

Step 1. Sleep/Wake button is functioning fine

Step 2. LCI is not activated

Step 3. Plug the iphone to it's USB charger. Almost 2 hours now. Nothing happened.

Step 4. I think I have to skip this because the phone is just dead. no signs of charging whatsoever

Step 5. While currently charging (I tried the reset) nothing happens

Step 6. When plugged to USB port. It's not detected. nothing happens. Tried it with a windows laptop. same thing.

Anymore suggestions?

I'm planning of having it charge overnight. Hopefuly like some post here, it will miraculously come back to life.

Persistence. I must have tried the restore in iTunes 50 times over a one week period with mixed results each time. Even after the last restore and reset which brought it back to life, it ran a little qwerky for a couple days before the crash log settled down. A few apps were hanging which was resolved by deleting them from the device and iTunes, then downloading new from the App Store. If you can afford the time, there's nothing to lose with restoring and resetting all settings and contents until it starts to act right.

Guess a lot of folks having this issue. So my story begins earlier tonight when i was in the middle of Subway Surfer and the screen went completely blank. I think i was at 47% battery power when it happened too. i can hear it click, it vibrates, i tried turning it off and it will vibrate and iTunes can pick it up, it will charge as well. the apple logo will flash for a quick second with it reboots and that's it...i've had it plugged in for the past 3 hrs and still nothing...i can blindly turn my music on but can't pause it so i have to turn it off again and the screen is still black. i'll try restoring it later and see if that works...
