iPhone/iOS 6 and a car stereo

Its a software issue that Apple fails to fix. There are many upset customers that have called and complained to Apple but they seem to do nothing about it. Best option for now is to use auxiliary but that takes away your steering wheel controls

Yes I agree I have given up using the main connector I now use the aux port. At least I can listen to a pod cast without the annoying unsupported error appearing on the Honda display.

I have trashed the Podcast app entirely. Then, power down the iPhone and restart. Podcasts will return to the Music app. I can plug my iPhone 5 (also worked with my previous plain vanilla iPhone 4) into my 2011 Accord's USB port and my podcasts are available as before the creation of the hated Podcast app. Just DELETE it.

I've said this to other posters: delete the Podcast app and power down your phone. Start up again and you will find Podcasts again listed on the Music app. You can again go through the USB port in your CR-V and all will be as it was before the evil Podcast app was spawned!!

Which is great .. if you have an aux port...Seriously how do we get apple to resolve this ? its an os6 problem ... Would a trip to the Apple store to have them downgrade you past 0s6 ? I have an Apple IPOD INTERFACE factory installed and no aux to use.. What is the actual problem ? someone said something about the IPOD out software ???

Just kill the Podcast app!! Your podcasts will again be available under the music app and the factory installed interface will work again. Try it, you'll like it!

i have heard others have had success by downloading the podcast to the phone using the down arrow icon in the app and then selecting the podcast from the car stereo.

My phone doesnt have a podcast app.. I cant get it to play pandora or radio apps .

Visited the Apple store... not much help .. did a complete reset as if it were a new iphone and no change.. I purchased a song from itunes and it worked for a moment but then cut out and stopped...whats the story on parrot or the ipod out settings?

yeah! exact same thing happened to me today. i've had my sound system for almost a year now, never a single problem. but as i was pulling out of my drivway today, it suddenly cut off my ipod touch 4th gen. the music played for about a minute, and then it just stopped. tried it again, and the same thing happened. then i tried my friend's HTC and it worked fine. i also purchased a song and it didn't play fully. it said "no device detected". i got the update yesterday, and today was the first time i've plugged in my ipod to my car stero since the update....

Yes the only fix is to delete the podcast app and let the music app manage the podcasts.

The only problem is I need to manually download the podcasts each time I'm home within wifi.

I have a 2012 Fiat Pop and an iPhone 4. The USB port in my car stopped connecting to my phone (bluetooth works fine) when I upgraded to iOS 6 last fall. I was busy at the time so I didn't make the connection between the two - I just started using my auxillary cord.

I finally took my car to the dealership and they said the port and stereo were fine. I did some reading and saw that one person in this forum didn't have any music in iTunes, and once they added some songs to their iPhone it was recognized by the stereo.

That's exactly what happened for me as well. Once I added a few songs to my phone via iTunes, I could finally connect via the USB port. Initially when I plugged my phone in, the stereo still didn't recognize it. Once I played a song via my music app, it successfully connected. Then I could go to Spotify and play my music as usual. It's a bit of a pain, but at least I can control the songs via my steering wheel again.

Recently installed a new Alpine head unit in my vehicle. I purchased this particular unit for it bluetooth capabilities. It paired and worked fine with my cheap-*** android phone but then I bought a 64G Iphone5 and I got nothing. The phone sees other stereo but won't pair with it. And yes I unpaired my old phone. Totally bummed out.

never had an issue in the 4yrs using apple. everything was working fine in my car, ycable bmw with iphone 4. i upgraded to ios6.1.3 and no more music in my car

i plug it in and the car doesnt recognise the phone anymore, but recognises my wifes who has not upgraded to ios6.1.3.

i have also tried to play it through the aux setting, the song will play for a second or two then stop.

have tried every solution, full restore, deleted music and reloaded on itunes, deleted the podcast app, new itunes library, reset and countless restarts, have tried purchasing music, ripping music, everything.

has anyone else got another solution to this issue?

apple, can you please release a fix, looks to be an ongoing issue.
