I updated to ios 6 on my 4S by doing a restore/update then restored from backup, and my battery life has increased along with signal strength , same results on my wifes 4S... not sure why some of you are having issues but if you are i suggest backing up your phone then restore/update then restore from backup, see if that helps ...

If you check the Usage time vs. the Standby time, are the two numbers almost the same?

I've updated as a new device, and restored from backup 2 times each way

I've reset network settings (to try and get some signal bars back that have gone down to 1 almost everywhere)

I've turned off and on the "Prevent iphones from automatically synching"

I've turned Siri off

I've turned auto time off

I've turned all the location services off

I've deleted 95% of the apps on the device

Not much else to do besides take it in for a replacement

iPhone 4 updated to iOS 6 last night. Charged over night, and have been playing music, sending multiple emails, making calls, played a few rounds of Solitaire, and checking out the new iOS features -- typical activity for me, aside from going through several of the new features.

My results? It's 6pm and my battery is at 63% -- quite normal IMO. The point of me stating this is not to rub it in your faces, but to point out that (a) not all users are having battery issues with iOS 6, and (b) poor performance could be due to a botched iOS installation.

I did my iOS update the way I always do -- by downloading the file to iTunes first without installing it, then install it on the iPhone from iTunes. If you did an OTA update, I would not be surprised if something went awry, though it should work. For those having battery problems, try downloading iOS to your computer and restore your iPhone. As a last resort, you may have to restore and not load your backup -- a pain, I know, but that's what it might take.

I went to sleep last night at 12:15am and my phone was at 30% battery life. I made sure I closed all applications to make sure nothing was beging used overnight. I woke up at 5:50am (thats only 5.5hours) and my battery was already down to 18%. I have now been up for 30 minutes with minimal use and I am now at 10%. Only apps open are Mail, Scramble Free (played one game today), Safari (pulled the weather forecast once this morning), and Facebook (looked at one post). Not heavy usage and yet my battery is depleting. No way can I make it through the day anymore without charging it.
