I updated my iPhone 4S a couple of days ago (the phone itself is only a couple months old) and the battery life I noticed is much worse after the update. After playing music, and sending a few texts I've noticed the battery level skrinking down at an unexpected rate. Even when I'm not using the phone over time, it's still dropping way more than it should and normally would. wahhhh

I've had battery issues with my 4S since I got it last November. The patch prior to iOS 6 did seem to work the best for me in terms of battery life. iOS 6 has made it worse it seems.

I've scoured these forums and other Mac forums and tried virtually all of the suggested battery tips. My girlfriend has a 4, both of us on Verizon. I've mirrored her settings and she still gets much, much better battery life than me, through similar use. Yes, I know we don't use it exactly the same but in general we are pretty close to the mark in terms of data use and calls (I check cellular usage for both our phones in settings).

The day iOS 6 came out, I charged it to full after the install. Seven hours later it was down to 40% (only texting, listen to podcasts, and some Facebook and Instagram updates). When I got home, I left my phone downstairs for two hours, nothing running in the background that I'm aware of. When I checked it, I got the charging icon indicating it was drained. I've also noticed that my phone runs hotter than usual and I don't use a case.

I don't know if I should send my phone in (I have Squaretrade warranty) or just suck it up until my upgrade in June and get a phone without so many battery issues.

Check to see if you have calendar items as you expect. Some people are experiencing issues with the calendar not syncing correctly after upgrading to iOS 6 and it causes high processor and network usage, resulting in short battery life. Turning off calendars and reminders are temporary fixes, but looks like I might have to wipe phone and start from scratch.

With the upgrade and all the features included I hope you realize that the better the application and more fun it is, it will use more juice. Add to that the juiced up processor and video, I expected battery life to suffer as well as increased heat. Again, all that A6+ muscle & gadgets, crammed into a smaller, lighter, Aluminum bodied capsule with out air circulation.... simple science.

to help reduce battery consumption go thru all your settings and turn off or regulate some things like notifications and the like (real power hungry as it CONSTANTLY has to keep up with where and what you are doing)
