bluetooth music issues after iOS6 update

I was able to update using a windows 7 laptop with a bluetooth adapter. Just followed the directons from pioneer. All info is being displayed for Pandora and iPod funtcions using bluetooth.

I bought recently a AVH-2400BT with the sole purpose to stream Bluetooth audio in my car, It did work flawlessly the whole summer on 5.1.1 and since upgrading to IOS 6 i lost my track title, album, song genre, etc. AVRCP does not work anymore, no more steering wheel control. I cannot control the phone with the head unit anymore and this is really ******* me off.

Same problem here.

Using a AVH-P4400BH. I have lost all visual display on the head unit, no more steering wheel control of the iphone, and I've tried everything.

I called Pioneer this morning and they informed me this is an issue with Apple and they have no way to release a hot fix because the phone isn't backwards compatible.

Incredible.

If my iphone 5 doesn't work with my pioneer head units in my three vehicles when it arrives tomorrow, I will simply return it. This would be the game changer for me going to a droid, and I've had every iphone on release date since the original. This is BS.

Here in the netherlands, same problem, went to ios6 with my 4s, and my Pioneer AVH 4400-BT, no more control of the bluetooth play, no forward or backward skipping with my steering wheel controls 😟

what a bummer, got this radio only 2 months ago because the original Suzuki sx4 radio with the suzuki-dension ipod kit was driving me crazy because it hung every few weeks, and then would not listen to the steering wheel controls anymore.....

Well at least the connection by cable (using an standard apple iphone cable to the usb on the radio 🙂 ) works with control and info with the avh-4400 bt from pioneer.

Maybe this works for the 2400,3400 and 8400 series too. Better sound too as bleutooth. But for short rides i liked the bleutooth.

Yeah I noticed that problem last night when I was driving home from work. Meta Tagging wasn't working nor could I control my music (Skip Fwd/Back) when using bluetooth w/ my Pioneer System. I also noticed that when the when the iPhone is connected using the cable the Meta Tags stops working after few skips.

That was enough for me and I decided to downgrade back to IOS5 and now everything is now working perfectly.

How would I go about downgrading my firmware on my iPhone?

Need to google it, as detailed instructions seem to get moderated;

1:Put phone in DFU mode

2:Shift-Click restore, to choose which .ipsw file to use

also i had a ios5 backup to keep my info, i'd expect if you've upped your backups to ios6 you might have to re-eneter everything manually.

Just wanted to chime in on this issue.

I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and the Bluetooth audio issue occurs for me as well (Pioneer AVH-2400BT). No track info, can't change songs from the unit, only from the phone itself. When I connect it through USB it seems to work just fine.

I tested with my sister's phone (still on iOS 5) and it works perfectly fine, everything is there. Then we went to her car (VW Golf) and her stock radio works with her phone, but not mine. The music streams but you can't change the tracks with the car's controls.

This clearly isn't an isolated Pioneer issue, it's happening with Alpines, stock radios (whatever brand VW uses), Pioneers, and probably other ones. I'm seriously considering downgrading to 5.1.1

Same thing here. I have the Alpine BT133 and after update to IOS6 all BT controls went out the window. I have been onto Alpine and they have said that they have in excess of 1500 calls and emails a day since IOS6 went live.

It is not the job of all manufactures to rush out an update because a phone manufacture decides to change a key feature of there product. Pioneer and Sony are in the same boat with hundreds of emails and customer service complaint because of what apple has done....Steve Jobs wouldn't have let this happen (R.I.P Mr Legend), or allowed the Iphone 5 released with a flawed Map system, but there ya go. Take away the Genius and ya left with the monkies.

My Kenwood KDC-X896 has the audio control issue, so I went to my local Apple store and asked to exchange my 4s with a new one that hadn't been upgraded yet. They said they hadn't heard of the Bluetooth issue and couldn't test it there, but they had no reason to disbelieve me, and since my phone was still covered under the limited 1-year warranty (20 days left), they actually gave me a new 4s! I couldn't restore the phone from the backup I had made under ios 6 that was on my computer, but fortunately I had a relatively recent backup from May on the cloud (and could have used an October 2011 backup on my computer if I had to). After restoring the new 5.1.1 4s phone, I once again had audio control. Hopefully this is only a temporary solution until Apple or Kenwood does something about the problem, but anybody else with a 4s who wants to do this needs to do it before there phone reaches the one year point.

This is Apple's issue with Apple's AVRCP not being Backward compatible...

Apple can Address this with a iOS 6.X Patch Update or ALL of the other Manufacutrers of Bluetooth Devices can Update their Firmwares... (good luck with the later!!)

According to the AVRCP, the Latest Version Keeps the functionality of the Previous Version?????

Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)

This profile is designed to provide a standard interface to control TVs, Hi-fi equipment, etc. to allow a single remote control (or other device) to control all of the A/V equipment to which a user has access. It may be used in concert with A2DP or VDP.

It has the possibility for vendor-dependent extensions.

AVRCP has several versions with significantly increasing functionality:

• 1.0—Basic remote control commands (play/pause/stop, etc.)
• 1.3—all of 1.0 plus metadata and media-player state support
  • The status of the music source (playing, stopped, etc.)
  • Metadata information on the track itself (artist, track name, etc.).
• 1.4—all of 1.0, 1.3, plus media browsing capabilities for multiple media players
  • Browsing and manipulation of multiple players
  • Browsing of media metadata per media player, including a "Now Playing" list
  • Basic search capabilities

I have an iPhone4 and a Pioneer AVH-P2400BT car unit. I've upgraded to IOS 6. The update (from what I've tried and what I can tell) is NOT reversible.

Here's what I've found happening between the iPhone & Pioneer for bluetooth streaming audio:

1. The track/artist info no longer displays.

2. The track skip buttons no longer function.

3. The pause/play button no longer functions. It may SEEM like it does, but it simply mutes the audio, the content continues to play (silently) on the iPhone.

4. The content no longer resumes when the vehicle is started.

5. The content will pause when the vehicle is turned off, but a couple of seconds continue (silently) on the iPhone.

6. If content is paused by the vehicle being turned off, it will resume playing on the iPhone speakers following an incoming phone call, whether answered or not. (This can be a little embarrassing, depending on the content of your prefferred podcasts! 😊 )

I don't think this is a stereo model issue. I think it's an Apple issue. My iphone 4 no longer allows me to control music via my Mazda's sound system with bluetooth. Someone suggested turning bluetooth on/off on your phone. I hope Apple fixes this soon! I don't know if the phone works for receiving calls through my system, yet--haven't tested 😟

I have now heard from a very big carsound reseller in scandinavia.

And they have talked to Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC and Alpine. They have had 1000 of unsatisfied customers calling the last week, And they all say they the same. Bluetooth stinks on ios 6.

They are NOT gonna update the software to work with ios6.

they all have found an error in ios 6 bluetooth protocol it should be easy to fix but.

its up to apple to fix this.... It worked before and they have to get it to work again.
