bluetooth music issues after iOS6 update

Ditto! Have an Alpine unit I invested 400 bucks in a month ago that is now absolutely annoying to use because of this. Not happy! Get it fixed please!!!

BTW, total lack of backward compatability is not acceptable here. If this was known about, planned, or whatever, users needed to be made well aware of this prior to release. Totally understand that bugs are a part of any update, but I'd like some reassuranace that steps are being taken to remedy this ASAP.

Point of order: a number of individuals, including myself, have noted that the iPod out/iPlug/whatever you call it is no longer functional. If that's the case, doesn't this mean that the "Bluetooth specs on stereo are not updates = not Apple's fault" is a bunch of crap? Beyond the bickering, doesn't this make it more possible that the problem might be something else and therefore more likely to be quickfixed by an iOS software update? Could be two separate issues, but the timing is a little suspect.

I have a Pioneer AVH-P4450BT and after upgrading iOS6 I lost some features. Not cool! Now I cant control seek, forward, track info etc... Please fix this issue..

I'm really sick of this problematic "update". I've had the Pioneer AVH-P2400BT for only three months and already the bluetooth functionality is deemed unusable? I haven't tried with the AUX cable or the USB connection through the unit, but I could only assume that the functionality of the metadate and the track seeker on the unit wouldn't work either.

How would I go about downgrading my firmware on my iPhone?

I am also having the same problem Pioneer AVH-P4400BH. This Radio worked absolutly perfect. It automatically played the music in my 4GS on IOS 5 but now it soes not automatically play and when you want to play it only gives you the audio no artist/song description. I could only think that there have been many people working for Apple that were beta testing this new IOS and they choose not to fix anything this is a huge oops on their part. Dont know why the giant hurry. Normally we got a good clean working product. I am very upset im glad I cannot get this new 5 I will wait until the 5 Snap comes out.

Just another data point, I'm seeing the lack of metadata, auto resume, etc. on my Alpine CDE-133BT as well. Was working fine with my 4S on iOS 5. Upgraded the 4S to iOS 6 and immediately saw the problem when I got in the car this morning.

Just to add my issue (in layman's terms) to the list of grievances:

I updated to iOS6 this morning.

I have a Bluetooth-enabled Toyota factory stereo that worked perfectly with my iPhone4 yesterday. I could switch between radio, CD and my audiobooks or iTunes playlist at will AND, yes, even talk on the phone. Today I hopped in my car for my long commute and I had no volume on my car stereo. I flipped around, turned it off and on and couldn't figure out what was happening. I turned on my Audible audiobook app from my phone and it worked fine. Hmm. I didn't have time to mess with it, so I just used that. But I tried hitting the phone icon to see if I'd get a dial tone and got nothing. I was in traffic, so didn't attempt a test call.

When I got into car to return home, I had same problem – no volume on stereo at all. I tried turning Bluetooth off from Settings and lo and behold, the volume on the stereo started working again. Well, great. Basically I have my choice of having the Bluetooth phone/iPod feature I paid extra for in my car or, having a stereo that has actual volume (usually a prerequisite with most audio equipment ...) It HAS to be an Apple problem. Everything worked perfectly yesterday.

I really hope they fix this SOON!! I don't know what to do, to be honest. I am due for a contract renewal next month and was getting a 5, but this is a potential deal breaker for me and I don't say that lightly. I LOVE my Apple products. But how can I have a completely useless Bluetooth system?

OK, I had the same problem after updating yesterday (pairing with my 2012 Volkswagen Jetta) — no metadata, no ability to control with car-controls — BUT.

Tried some things and here's what I found: with Bluetooth on auto-connect, so long as the Music app is not running when my car pairs with my iPhone, I DO get metadata and CAN control from the car once it pairs and begins autoplaying. If the app is running when the car pairs, nothing.

So if nothing else, it does not appear this is a firmware update issue, but rather something going on with iOS6.

I have a Kenwood KDC-BT852HD that after updated to IOS 6 I no longer have any control when using bluetooth. I had it before updating the IOS. It worked really good, Now, no forward or reverse song selection, and no Tagging information displayed. Although Music does play, it ***** having to grab the phone to change the song, let alone.... in California, its illegal to have a phone in your hand. Apple PLEASE RETURN CONTROLS USING BLUETOOTH.

1:Put phone in DFU mode

2:Shift-Click restore, to choose which .ipsw file to use

also i had a ios5 backup to keep my info, i'd expect if you've upped your backups to ios6 you might have to re-eneter everything manually.

Will keep an eye on this thread, see if this works for others & wait till a mate gets a 5 to try this no way am I gonna change this OS again.

Well, I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news, but my fedex driver dropped off my iphone 5 this morning to my office on his first stop. I chatted with him yesterday 🙂

I updated the iphone 5, synced it to itunes, and walked out to my truck. Surprisingly it is working as designed. There are no problems at all. Bluetooth controls on my steering wheel are working again, I have artist track info, etc on my head unit, and it sounds crystal clear.

The bad news, I have a feeling since the iphone 5 works fine, it will not be fixed as aggressively for those staying with the 4/4s.

I feel bad for you guys and I hope they have a quick resolution for you.

I can tell you with certainty, that my parrot controlled pioneer head unit does not work with the iphone 4 or iphone 4s on iOS6, however the iphone 5 running iOS6 is working flawlessly.

All I can say is, man is this phone fast!!! Track changing is instant, display on head unit is much faster!

Well I just tried the suggestion of a previous poster about trying to Force Quit the Music app and then turning on the head unit. Unfortunately it didnt help me.

@spanks127, what head unit do you have that now works with iPhone 5?

I'm hoping that Apple just stuffed something simple up with Bluetooth with all the 4/4S users that will be resolved in 6.0.1.

I also have an Alpine CDE-133BT. Right after I 'upgraded' my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 the bluetooth functionality diminished. It will still play music through the car stereo but I have no control over it (pause, skip, play, etc) and it no longer shows the artist, album and song info. If it I plug it in with a usb cable those functions work correctly leading me to believe that this is a bluetooth issue. I tried unpairing the phone via bluetooth with the stereo and repairing it multiple times and have had no success.
