photostream not working on pc windows 7

I have photostream set up on my IPhone, IPad and PC with Windows 7. Photostream stopped working. Everytime I open my ICloud control panel the photo stream is unchecked, no matter how many times I check the box and apply, the next time I open it ....again it is unchecked. I am unsure if this is the problem. help!!

well, you're not going to believe this, but my PhotoStream is now working. Unfortunately (I'm so ticked off about this!) I don't know what I did to get it to work!!! I'm in the dark, as my laptop has been acting posessed for the past few weeks. So no words of wisdom. Wish I knew what I changed so that I could help you all.

(I took note of the entry by Brian, and now see that mine, too, says version 2.1.1. Maybe that was it?)

On a similar note, have a look-see at the pics I'm posting. I have no idea what the PhotoStream icon in the drives window is for. When I click on it, it says "Photostream not enabled." So I click the link, and voila, Photostream is INDEED enabled. So what's up with this now?

This section fixed it for me

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

In the right pane, there should be NO entries for Apple related services. I noticed even after I thought I turned everything off manually, there were a couple remaining registry entries. If you see anything in the right pane related to apple, icloud or itunes services, delete them.

I didnt even have to reinstall iCloud just reopened it!!

THANK YOU!!!

You may have found a proper solution to this in the meanwhile, but should that not be the case, read on for my easy solution to this.

I experience what I believed was exactly the same problem described here; attempting to upload pictures to your Photo Stream on iCloud from a PC w/ Windows 7 produces no result. What I first did was simply pasting pictures directly into the Photo Stream system folder, expecting that to initiate a synchronization.

That's not the right approach to upload pictures to your Photo Stream. Instead, the pictures should be pasted into the /Uploads subfolder underneath the Photo Stream folder! Go to your iClound Control Panel and click the [Options] button next to the Photo Stream item in the list. In the dialog being shown, notice the location of your Photo Stream folder. Navigate there, select the /Uploads subfolder and paste the pictures you want to upload.

When I did that, they began uploading almost immediately and a few seconds later, they showed nicely on both my iPad 4 and iPhone 5. :-)

I HAVE FIXED IT - at least for me, i tried everything that everyone listed here, from uninstalling and reinstalling icloud to changing registry keys, the fix however was very simple, i usually sign into icloud with my itunes email address (blahblahblah@hotmail.com) so i signed out of icloud and signed in with my ICLOUD address (blahblahblah@icloud.com) and it worked right away, the greayed out photos box was there now, and i went into the options, added photostream and its all working as it should be.

i hope this helps !!!

I tried everything and this was the only thing that worked for me:

  1. Open Task Manager (ctrl, alt and delete) and end ApplePhotoStream.exe and AppltPhotoStreamDownloader.exe if they're running.
  2. Go to your Users folder and navigate to the following path: C:\Users\Dean\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MediaStream\ - Obviously my user folder is Dean but yours will be the user that you're logged into Windows as.
  3. Delete everything in that folder.
  4. log out of icloud, and then log in and re-activate the photos option
  5. it should start downloading again your photos
