Apple vs Google Maps

I am very disappointed with the new Apple Map that replaced Google Maps. This is a backward move to 2009 software. How can I get Google Maps back. I need street view when I am in a strange neighborhood. 3D is cute but how many times will anyone use it. Please help!!!!

It's funny how Apple thinks that showing a few 3D views of one American city will make everything good and best. Like the rest of the world doesn't exist. 80% of iPhone / iOS features is tailored to the US users. I for one am not happy with how Apple is doing things and I will be skipping iPhone 5. It may well be that iPhone 4S will be my first and last Apple phone. Will see what happens in the next 6 months.

Don't be ridiculous.

You're the one speculating on ridiculous conspiracy theories. Android and Google Maps may be parented by the same company, but that doesn't mean Apple declared war on every product/service Google provides otherwise iOS users would also be denied access to Google Earth, Search, Gmail, Google Drive, Chrome and all the others.

Time to take your tin foil hat off and stop watching re-runs of the X-Files.

I like how Apple says "They will fix the map." Ahhh. NO. You just don't "fix" something as complex as a detailed map. Just making small corrections would take about 5-10 years to match Google.

Google spent years developing their mapping system. There are no "fixes." You would need to start from the ground up (no pun intended). I've seen the screen shots compairing the new Apple Maps to Google. There is no contest, the Google Maps are far superior by design.

I have read many editorials from around the world and I have to agree this is Apple's biggest mistake ever. It will be interesting to see the reactions from everyone who rushed to buy a phone, only to get lost on the way back home!

Yes - you are all right, Flash and now Maps, we are being treated like idiots, there are 3 iPads, 5 iPhones, about 10 iPods, two MacBooks, one IMac, one MacBook Pro, two Airport Express, Apple TV, Time Machine in this house, oh and two cancelled iPhone 5's, you should all do the same. They will be reordered as soon as we have Google Maps back.

Shame on you Apple, , Steve must be gone too long.

You often are not allowed to delete Apple Apps. In this case, just put it in a folder. I have one named "Infrequent"

As for m.maps.google.com, this web app is nothing like the full Google Maps we love in iOS5 and earlier. It has no Street View, and has very limited other features as well.

You don't think Job's nuclear war with Google has anything to do with it?

The so-called "thermonuclear" war was against Android, not Google. If Apple had beef with Google specifically no doubt they would 'ban' all the Google apps and services currently available on iOS.

And just who do you think put Android out? Google is android so they go hand in hand.
