iOS 6 iTunes Match - How to download single song

Hi,

Is there any possibility how to download a single song from iTunes Match in iOS 6? All the iCloud icons disappeared (except for whole album). And how to recognize which songs are downloaded and which are just in the cloud?

Yes, it works. The problemes are that you can't say wich songs are on your phone or not without disabling the "view all files" everytime. For those of us who have HUGE music database, it's annoying.

Also, there is no way to start multiple random song downloads at the same time. We have to either create a new playlist each time or play each song...and again, no way to know wich one are on your phonem this is user unfriendly compared to how it worked on ios 5.

They are not on your phone permanently only temporarily cached there.

Why has Apple intentionally 1) removed the iCloud icon next to individual songs; 2) made it impossible to delete a song without first turning off iTunes Match; 3) made it impossible to know what songs are actually downloaded to an iPhone when looking at the song list (unless you remember all songs in your library and can easily cross-reference by memory); and 4) made it impossible to download a single song stored in the cloud (now you have to download the entire album).

For instance, now, if I want to see if a song has been downloaded and not just cached to my iPhone, I have to look artist by artist. No longer can i just quickly view my song list to make that determination. Before, I could quickly peruse my library and see which songs had been downloaded and which were only in the cloud. Not anymore. This feature is gone. Deleted by Apple.

Another gripe: In 6.0, if I want to delete a song, I have to turn off iTunes Match before I am able to swipe to delete. Then, when I turn iTunes Match back on, I have to wait for iTunes Match to re-populate my songs. And if I want to re-download the song as opposed to streaming it to cache, I am required to download the entire album. But if I don't want the other songs that have been downloaded against my will, I have to turn iTunes Match off once again, delete the unwanted songs, and then go back to the toggle for iTunes Match, turn it on, and wait for my music to repopulate. This is moronic!!!

Was someone at Apple actually paid money to make a decision to effectively destroy the functionality of a good product? Perhaps a background check is necessary to determine whether the person is actually employed by Samsung to sabotage the iPhone. I can't think of any other explanation for what is one of the worst decisions I have seen a company make. And who at Apple decided to make the concrete grey background in the music application without providing an option to retain the 5.0 color scheme? That person or group of people should be fired.

I guess I will have to cancel my iTunes Match subscription because it is totally useless to me now. How sad. It was an absolutely fantastic product that was easy to use, and convenient. Now it is cumbersome and useless.

Apple needs to fix these issues ASAP. An emergency update is in order. Heads would be rolling if Steve Jobs were alive. No, I take it back. This would not have happened on his watch. RIP Steve.

And again. I did the same.

iTunes Match is useless for me without the features they've deleted. iTunes Match was the right way to use only the amount of space on my device, which was needed for the music I wanted to listen to. If I was in a mood to listen to another song - hey, I could just download it.

It seems as if Apple wants us to stream music everywhere - but they forgot to build up the wordlwide mobile network for enough bandwith and to get a data connection at a subway station, etc.

Apple's understanding of a useful service has nothing to do with their customers usage (in this case) and It's unbelievable how this could happen.

I must agree with the general concensus here: They have taken a decent product and broken it badly. In adddition to many of the issues outlined in previous posts I find that if you have "Cellular Data" on it is not apparent (at least not to me) which songs are on the device and which need to be downloaded. While this may be unnecessary for people with unlimited data plans it's a pain for those of us that are coping with cell providers run by bandits.

I also wonder why Aplle isn't responding in any way to this thread.

All the fuss over the Maps feature and weather or not the aluminum backing of the iPhone 5 scuffs/scratches are non issues to me. Apple will fix and improve maps, and the scratching is just stupid people looking for soething to complain about. When it was plastic back it scratched. When it was aluminum befor that it scratched, and when it was gorilla glass it scratched and cracked. These are more issues of materials, not functionality, and the map was half baked; sure; but Apple is at war with Google, after all, and Waze is free and excellent

This issue, is one of intention. They had to actually decide to remove this feature, and implimentt that code. Why? Who does this serve? They are at war with Google, but are forcing me to cancel my iTunes Match account and use Google's service instead. Is this really what you want, Tim Cook? Just give us an open letter that the change to iCloud single song downloads was a mistake that will be corrected in the next update, and all this ******** and moaning will go away.

Another thing no one has really complained about is the fact that we have no real support for a service we are paying for. There is not a single iTunes Match category in the support page at apple.

I cancelled my subscription already and am in the process of downloading and converting all my library back to mp3. Seems like Amazons service is the best replacement for iTunes Match, the only thing i will really miss is smart playlists, but at least i can have the music i want, when i want it, and not drain my data plan.

I just purchased my ipad, and one of the reasons I did is for iTunes Match. I have over 30,000 songs even the 64gb ipad could not hold my entire library. I only listen to one song at a time, not an entire albumn. Apple needs to fix this, or I might just go with another tablet that fits my needs. I'm qutie sure their competitors are taking a look at all the unhappy customers.
